I have 7 MB cable & 1.5 MB DSL.

I despise the cable.

It's sickeningly inconsistent, as apparently, the node i'm on is totally f*cked.
No good for any kind of online gaming (terrible ping + pl), & often even slugish for surfing the net (mainly during busy times of the day).

Slow reliable DSL ftw.

I just wish I had cable Internet that wouldn't drop off every 15 minutes. RoadRunner FTL!

If you're with comcast -- they boosted downloads to ultra-high speeds for big files.

Also, cable -- in general -- is a shared bandwidth. What that means, is that your neighbors all share the same bandwidth pipe. When lots of them are using it, then your speed decreases. BUT, if none of them are using it, then your BW increases a bunch -- higher than the 5mb.

In addition, just like gigabit vs 10/100 strategy for servers, the faster you download your files, the quicker the network will be free....



that doesn't apply to us of course;)
