So i have a 5mb cable connection

but i'm pulling down an average speed of 1057K/sec tonight...i'm liking this, wonder what the hell is wrong...i already called a friend of mine on cable to see if maybe they upgraded our speed and i wasn't aware, but he's getting his usual download rates

odd, but i'm not complaining

Hot damn, that's fast. Cable company must've screwed up somewhere and not realised it if you're getting 160% of what you're normal speed is 😛

I have a 512/128 DSL connection. On a good day, I get about 49-50KB/s. Streaming any audio or video just ain't happening. I miss my cable internet. 🙁

so i guess they bumped you from 5Mb to 8Mb then

i guess...but why didn't they bump my friend who's on the same plan as me...kinda makes me think there's a glitch somewhere...

well...according to the cox site, 5mb is still the fastest available here...so i'm getting the hook up for some reason 😀

hopefully they never notice :fingerscrossed;

What are you using to test? Speakeasy? If so that's why, that thing is screwy as hell and always gives those results when you click a source not as close to you.

Use speedtest.net and see what you get.

Also, if you were using comcast I would say it's just that powerboost thing, but you have cox. Has upload changed, if it hasn't then you didn't get upgraded, just screwy results, it happens to me all the time.
