I believe the HD2 has been hacked to support Windows Phone 7, Andoird, MeeGo, and Ubuntu, all in addition to its standard WinMo 6.5. I'm keeping mine around just so I have a dev test platform for all the OSes.

But yea, the Cliq is and has been crap.

agreed, HD2 is probably your best bet. If I had T-mobile i would buy one for sure (for 200)

Im currently using a captivate for ATT running phoenix rom

I want the MyTouch 4G, that is one badass phone, until the AT&T Atrix comes out, but the MyTouch 4G might actually have more to offer despite the CPU not being as fast as the Atrix's..

every single spec on the atrix is better....what does the mytouch offer, aside from hackability?

Rooting allows more to be done. Android is already quite customizable but every once in a while, you'd ask "I wonder if it can do XYZ?" and chances are it can, if you root.

So if you wanted to remove the bloatware, rooting will allow you to do it. Other things it lets you do include screenshots, Titanium Backups, system wide adblocking, underclocking (you need to flash a different kernel to overclock though) and software control of certain phone functions.

Beyond rooting is actual replacement of the stock ROM with customized ones like Virtuous, GingerVillain or CyanogenMod7. This is where the full potential of the phone is realized.

CyanogenMod is very well supported for the G2, you should definitely give it a shot.
