And the new one came with an AMOLED screen, while the old one was only SLCD!
It sort of made the whole process worth it for me

Nice!
I don't get why people complain about sunlight with the AMOLED, it's perfectly readable to me with the brightness turned up. And the other 99% of the time I'm not standing in direct sunlight, I get to enjoy the super crisp & rich color!![]()
Sucker! They gave you an older phone!!!!
ahahaha yup the older ones had AMOLED while the newer ones has S-LCD.
If I have to get a replacement, I told them I will NOT take an SLCD phone. 30% worse battery life on a phone that already dies quicker than just about every smartphone out there, no thank you.
They said that if they didn't have any more AMOLED phones in stock by that time I would just get a credit towards a new phone.
Do you have a problem with my rational argument?
I paid X amount of features. They can't give me back an inferior product.
Yes they can.
I'm laughing at how sure you are that you are going to tell them what they are going to do. Seriously...try it and let me know how that works out for you.
He already said they are going to give him credit.
Are you kidding? These companies will do anything to keep customers on the smartphone data packages. I know of several people who have had similar situations as mine and were able to get different phones. There are posts all over other forums about people complaining about battery life, and being sent extended batteries for free.
Do you know how cell phone inventory works? Your phone has a SKU. If you put in for a warranty swap, you get whatever your SKU is back. There aren't 2 different SKU's for different LCD types. Its just one model. So your request would be physically impossible.
Is SKU the only number printed on the outside of the box?
lol no
But now that you mention that....they may go off the manufacturer's SKU.
Can the OP check and see if they are different? Check under the battery and see if anything is different besides the IMEI's. Now I'm curious and would love to admit that I was wrong.

PS: Your cell phone company does not care about you.
Retention dept. can ignore sku's. They sure as hell didn't look at my Moto Q's SKU when they FedEx'd me a BlackBerry.Do you know how cell phone inventory works? Your phone has a SKU. Yes I DO know how inventory works. Guess what? The SKUs are different. Guess that's because they are essentially a different model after a screen change.
In case Google doesn't work where you are:
AMOLED-ADR6300VW
SLCD-ADR6300VW3
The reason I know how inventory works... I worked at a retail store. If people brought stuff back under warranty and it couldn't be fixed, they could either get the same model if we still had it or they could get credit towards a different model. See how that works?
