I've been 'cable' free since 1996. I moved then, and just never reconnected it. So my son has grown up without cable (we had a TV for video games and the occasional rental) - but no incoming service.

So we've been watching tv this weekend, and we came to the conclusion that it is very strange. We did enjoy watching Star Trek TNG marathon.

That is all.

(why did I hook it up? - the local company gave a special for TV and internet for what we were paying for internet, so I thought, why not?)

cheap bastard, let the kid watch some damn tv. You probably gave him a computer years ago,so he can watch his porn and play his educational games you buy him.

TV wont kill braincells. Wait better yet keep him away from MTV, that does kill brain cells.

Wow. There are so many great shows you can now watch and they will all be new to you.

LOL, haven't even turned it on today - not sure if I'll keep it past the promo or not. I'm more of a fan of reading or my audible account. Son has shown no interest in it. . .

My parents got rid of cable 18 years ago, and other then a few years of having cable in college, I've been cableless ever since. It's not worth the money.

I haven't had cable since college, but I still watch TV. Did you know you can get free HDTV over the air? :)

I've been trying to get my wife to let me shut off the cable and just go with high speed internet. Most of the shows she watches can be found on the hulu or another online tv service, so their is little reason for us to pay for cable. I will miss the sports, though.

Meh, most of everything on TV is garbage. The commercials are unbearable. I remember when my family first got satellite TV years ago. At first it was great, but soon the experience turned into scrolling through the guide and thinking "crap, crap, crap, more crap, crap . . ." If there is something specific I want to watch, I go to Hulu or just buy it.
