I had mine done almost 10 years ago. I had mine on a friday, and I was hitting it again by Monday. I did rest the whole weekend. I had mine after 7 children though. (Actually the 7th was still baking when I had it done.) I have never noticed the difference in my performance. The only thing to watch out for is up to 6 months past the operation, you can still be considered viable. Go for the testing the doctor SHOULD recommend, to make sure there is no more sperm left in the ejaculate.

Had mine done 17 years ago on Holloween. Ended up carrying my 9 month old most of the night to trick or treat. A few beers later and an ice bag wasn't feling any pain.

In all seriousness, I would not have any problem getting this done in the future - not married and no kids, but it is something I would definitely go thru with to fit any future family planning.

i think it depends on how they clamp it. if they clamp it then yes its reversible (in fact sometimes it even heals together) or if they seal the ends then no.

97% if the vasectomy was performed less than 13 years previous to the reversal

93% for all patients including redo procedures and patients up to 33 years from the vasectomy

Fifty percent of the patients in this group achieved a pregnancy within one year of the vasectomy reversal, some as soon as one month from the surgery. Dr. Schow performs about 130 - 140 vasectomy reversals each year.

i thought i shaved pretty good the night before. i go in and she says sh ehas to take a look. i guess i did a bad job

I went to watch my youngest play a basketball game the next day and I paid for it the rest of the day. Don't think about physical activity for about a week.

In fact, I'm on day 6 and played basketball today. Went up to block a shot, felt a pain in my...er...mid section. Got home and noticed some ugly bruising had creeped in. Of course, everyone's different, but take it easy for at least a week!

Actually, if the Dr. does it right, it isn't. Not only were the ends cauterized, but he also clamped them with titanium clips to prevent fusion.

Believe me...I'm the biggest wimp in the world when it comes to stuff like this. It was truly nothing. After they gave me my shot, I was flying high as a kite and anything short of a machete wouldn't have given me a second thought.

My wife keeps saying she wants me to have one. I don't see the point though since she had her tubes tied immediately after our last baby was born (Cesarean). They already had her open so the doc tied everything up.

Ugh, I totally forgot about this thread. Let me clarify something. Although I did wanna nef the thread a bit, I do have a strong opinion that the woman should be the one to have her tubes tied...

Why? Throughout my life, I know a few women who had their tubes tied, mostly family (2 sister in laws, and cousin) and also a few friends. I did NOT know it was a huge procedure, and I always assumed a vasectomy was a WAY worse procedure.

I still would never get a vasectomy. I wouldn't think twice about my wife doing so, if she felt she wanted no more kids.
