The woman should be the one tying the tubes. But thats just my opinion.

??? Are you that dumb?

For a woman to get her tubes tied it is a major procedure. For a vasectomy it is a local and a little cut. Then you go home.[/]

Also a man is reversable not a womans

I wish I could get some laughing gas in addition to the local. Or get drunk first, or something. Anything to take my mind off of what's going on down there.

They gave me a shot of something (Valium?). The Dr. said it would take about 5 seconds to kick in. I started counting...1...2...3...4...5...still nothing Doc...6...WHOA! :D

Hopefully I'll get the same. That makes me less nervous about it (although I doubt anything could make me less nervous on the trip to the doc and in the waiting room :p)

Still curious, if the sperm is still produced, and the natural exit path is cut, where does it go?

I believe it dies in the epididymis and is decomposed locally.

Then more is produced in a cycle.

You know what they need? A microscopic swim-in-place pool, so they can swim till they die, and feel that they've had a good life. Or as a bonus, toss in a bunch of egg stand-ins, and let all the sperm think they've finally made it.

I had my "V" 15 years ago, just after my son was born. The procedure is very simple. The only problem I had is that the local anesthetic wasn't 100% effective, so I had some pain while he was cutting and snipping. Not unbearable, just enough to be really uncomfortable. I had warned him ahead of time that I have this problem (same thing happens with the dentist), so he shot me up with a bunch of this stuff, but it still didn't take away 100% of the pain. He asked if I wanted to quit and reschedule so he could do it under general anesthetic, but I told him just to cut fast and get it over with. We were done in about 5 minutes. 5 minutes after that I was driving home.

Recovery was just a weekend sitting around the house with a bag of frozen peas between my legs. Back to work Monday no problem.

It's true, musch safer for the man to have it done than the woman. That, and it's a lot easier to reverse the procedure should you want to sprout another kid.

Be warned though, I beleive it's still possible to impregnate for a year after the procedure.

I'm to do follow-ups at 8 and 12 weeks, where I'll provide samples. If all is clear at that time, I'll be considered completely safe.

What happens is that some men don't have their samples tested, and their partners jump off birth control right after the surgery, mistakenly thinking they're good to go right off the bat. There can be some residual squigglies hanging out for a little while. Best be tested and 100% sure!

I had my FIRST one Feb '06. Yes, I said first. The Dr. said out of over 4700 V's he's done, I'm the first one he's ever seen "grow back" in place. So be sure to do your follow up samples. It's really an easy procedure. Doc gave me a shot, said count back from 10... I think I got to Nuh.. and I was looped. Shaving and providing samples were worse/more embarrassing than the actual snip snip :)

Just thought I would share one of my favorite moments from Home Improvement, after Jill has to undergo a hysterectomy.

Jill: "I just feel that, you will stop looking at me as a whole woman. That you will not find me attractive."
Tim: "C'mon honey, I didn't marry you for your uterus or ovaries. I don't care about that. It's what inside that matters."

I have a friend that gave himself a vasectomy. He's a urologist and he used a mirror to see what he was doing. He had his wife in the room just in case he passed out. He's hardcore!
