Alright, so you used to think that a vasectomy was the more dangerous, worse, painful, ... option. But now that you know differently, do you still think that woman should get her tubes tied if a husband/wife combo want to stop having children?

If you do, all of the above replies to your original post still apply.

I hear it is "easily" reversible in case you decide to have children again.

Actually, if the Dr. does it right, it isn't. Not only were the ends cauterized, but he also clamped them with titanium clips to prevent fusion.

He said they wouldn't set off any metal detectors, but I hope they do. (Spinal Tap fantasy :) )

 That would be awesome.

Thankfully so, because you're wrong.

EDIT: Too bad you came back.

typical answer of a girl! obviously the women should have to undergo this procedure.

oh man, only local anesthetic? I am far away from considering the procedure, but I don't know if I could handle being conscience for it. :Q Then again, in 10 or 15 years hopefully there will be an easier solution

Believe me...I'm the biggest wimp in the world when it comes to stuff like this. It was truly nothing. After they gave me my shot, I was flying high as a kite and anything short of a machete wouldn't have given me a second thought.

I think I'd want to be put under. I was given a local anesthetic for getting a wart lasered off of my foot. The smell of my own flesh burning nearly made me pass out. Sure I didn't feel a thing, but there's something about going *sniff* and knowing that what you smell burning is you, well that just about did it for me.
Even being shot with something to make me "high as a kite" - it'd have to be damn good to make me ignore what was going on. I got some gas that was supposed to do that before some dental work. Sure I was acting weird and feeling out of it, but when they started, that sure got me good and focused to the point that the gas might as well have been turned off, so they put me completely under.
Any kind of work going on down south would surely get my full attention. Being conscious for it too, even if not being normally perceptive during the operation still gives me the ability to remember it, only to be horrified/disgusted repeatedly later as the memory plays out.

Just even getting a shot makes my blood pressure drop to the point that the nurse or doctor can just watch the color drain out of me, and at that time I lay down so I don't fall over from dizziness or pass out.

I guess from the way I was brought up, it is socially more acceptable for women to tie their tubes, than for a man to go through a vasectomy. So I guess all the replies are right. :(

Much safer and easier than getting the lady to cut/tie her tubes.

my brother had his reversed and my SIL was pregnant within the next two months!

That just proves you are honestly pathetic and you can't think for yourself.

:thumbsup;

Yep having your wife carry the kid is enough. Making a woman go through surgery just so you can still be a "man" is BS today. I think someone is more a man for standing up for their wife and doing that for her.

But I agree, and as you can see by others here, some still hold that you are less a man for getting it done. But I believe the opposite.

In several countries, it's socially acceptable to kill a five-year-old girl after she's been raped to preserve your family's honor.

I'm getting my tubes tied as soon as I know that there will be little to no negative side effects. Sperm banks are cheaper than abortions, anyhow. (As a side bonus, I get to piss off all the right-wing wackjobs by being able to have as much sex as I want, with no risk of Cheesehead Jr.)

Still curious, if the sperm is still produced, and the natural exit path is cut, where does it go?

I believe it dies in the epididymis and is decomposed locally.

Then more is produced in a cycle.

I had it done in 1999 and its great, no more babies for me!!!

i did have one complication. about 2 months after the snip i started to get really bad pain in my nuts right after i shot my load. it hurt really bad like i just got clubbed in the balls. went to my doc to ask her about it, she felt around and left to call another doc and they agreed that it was probaly scar tissue. she gave me a months supply of 800mg motrin to take 3 times a day. i did that and it went away and has not returned.

OP im lucky because my wife treated me like a king the weekend after. but you are right you gotta take it easy. gotta take care in not sitting or getting back up to fast, that hurt like a mother for about 4 days.

I don't know if I could get over the mental issue of "shooting blanks".

How was sex the first few times after the operation? Seriously. Don't give us some bullshyt line like "it was the best of my life!".
Did it hurt? Had you always used a condom before that? I am just curious about these things.

my family doc did mine at her office.

Perhaps I'm a bit narrowminded but I tend to think that those chiming in with sentiments like "better her than me" are either from cultures that still subjegate woman or are simply immature.

And obviously if you can benefit from the procedure then you're virile enough to begin with. In fact that's just odd to measure your "man-cred" by how many microscopic sperm are swimming in your load. If you're a stud before the procedure you'll still be on e after. If you're a prissy little b1tch before, you'll also more than likely be one after.
