How old are you?

34, and have been with my wife for 15 years. No likey kids.

I had mine done almost 10 years ago. I had mine on a friday, and I was hitting it again by Monday. I did rest the whole weekend. I had mine after 7 children though. (Actually the 7th was still baking when I had it done.) I have never noticed the difference in my performance. The only thing to watch out for is up to 6 months past the operation, you can still be considered viable. Go for the testing the doctor SHOULD recommend, to make sure there is no more sperm left in the ejaculate.

Plan to have mine in the very near future, have three kids already.

Just dreading the idea of a starnger touching my boys, let alone snipping my tubes.

Glad it was painless.

How soon can you play basketball?

Had mine done 17 years ago on Holloween. Ended up carrying my 9 month old most of the night to trick or treat. A few beers later and an ice bag wasn't feling any pain.

oh man.

the nurse that shaved me was fricken hot. i also started to get a erection from her handling it.

she just kept smiling at me the whole time. that was bad but it got worse! she had to call in a 2nd nurse to help hold it! (OK that part is a joke.)

i went in a month or so later for shoulder surgery. had the same nurse shave my shoulder and she said she remembered me.

I have no doubt that if I were to get this done that my little soldier would shrivel up and/or turtle right into my prostate. I don't think I would have anything left to be taped up.

In all seriousness, I would not have any problem getting this done in the future - not married and no kids, but it is something I would definitely go thru with to fit any future family planning.

Shaving?? Good heads up will shave the night before to avoid the whole hot nurse erection problem. Just the balls right? :)

I've heard the opposite...

Hell I'd get one right now if that were true.

i think it depends on how they clamp it. if they clamp it then yes its reversible (in fact sometimes it even heals together) or if they seal the ends then no.

When i had mine done they did both.

Apparetnly technology has caught up vasectomy reversal
Dr. Schow?s personal statistics for patency rates (defined as more than one million motile sperm in the ejaculate) after vasectomy reversals based on review of the last 500 patients are:

97% if the vasectomy was performed less than 13 years previous to the reversal

93% for all patients including redo procedures and patients up to 33 years from the vasectomy

Fifty percent of the patients in this group achieved a pregnancy within one year of the vasectomy reversal, some as soon as one month from the surgery. Dr. Schow performs about 130 - 140 vasectomy reversals each year.

I can't see anything, are you sure it's there? Dammit where's a microbiologist when you need one?

That would explain why the 2nd nurse didn't have to hold it.

oh man, only local anesthetic? I am far away from considering the procedure, but I don't know if I could handle being conscience for it. :Q Then again, in 10 or 15 years hopefully there will be an easier solution

Did not need a nurse. Doc told me I had a choice; I could help or she could.

Ended up just the two of us.

Oh no...no...no...NO!

I went to watch my youngest play a basketball game the next day and I paid for it the rest of the day. Don't think about physical activity for about a week.

In fact, I'm on day 6 and played basketball today. Went up to block a shot, felt a pain in my...er...mid section. Got home and noticed some ugly bruising had creeped in. Of course, everyone's different, but take it easy for at least a week!

Actually, if the Dr. does it right, it isn't. Not only were the ends cauterized, but he also clamped them with titanium clips to prevent fusion.

He said they wouldn't set off any metal detectors, but I hope they do. (Spinal Tap fantasy :) )

Believe me...I'm the biggest wimp in the world when it comes to stuff like this. It was truly nothing. After they gave me my shot, I was flying high as a kite and anything short of a machete wouldn't have given me a second thought.

I also had a seriously hot nurse helping out. Fortunately, I was so nervous about the procedure, wood was not an option.

My wife keeps saying she wants me to have one. I don't see the point though since she had her tubes tied immediately after our last baby was born (Cesarean). They already had her open so the doc tied everything up.

Ugh, I totally forgot about this thread. Let me clarify something. Although I did wanna nef the thread a bit, I do have a strong opinion that the woman should be the one to have her tubes tied...

Why? Throughout my life, I know a few women who had their tubes tied, mostly family (2 sister in laws, and cousin) and also a few friends. I did NOT know it was a huge procedure, and I always assumed a vasectomy was a WAY worse procedure.

I still would never get a vasectomy. I wouldn't think twice about my wife doing so, if she felt she wanted no more kids.
