So I had a "fake" IM conversation yesterday and regret it...

So a good friend of mine begged me to IM this girl who she thinks is flirting with her boyfriend.. She wanted me to pretend to be a writer/philosophy student and to gain her trust enough to learn her secrets and such (if she's dating my pal's boyfriend, etc.)..So I created a new AIM screen name and started chatting with this girl... I know, this sounds so immature and "high school"- it wasn't my idea to begin with! So two hours into our conversation and I actually begin to feel bad for this girl: she seems to be a nice, friendly type and I now feel like an ass.... Should I just not IM her again and let this just go away, should I confess to her or should I just countinue to do my friend the favor and dig for more info? Here's part of the transcript..Nothing terribly funny happened though...

btw: i'm PHILOspinachPIE... Her SN is masked...

d00d, got as far as the Mirror bit and couldn't hold my eyes open any longer without the aid of matchsticks. Seems like a nice person though. Maybe a little insecure about herself though.

So you feel bad about it but then you post part of the transcript on a public forum?

I don't feel bad about the conversation but I feel bad about the deception... I mean, I've met this person so it's not just like I randomly IMmed someone.. But I pretended to be someone else and also spoke in a different voice (I am in no ways a philosophical person)...

Good Call Antisocial.

You can't feel that bad.

You should tell her you have the herp, and she needs to get tested ASAP!

It spreads over the Internet?

yeah that boring conversation is gonna spread all over the net!

just delete the sn... don't msg her again. I doubt she'll care who you were.

Being a spy wasn't what was so immature, the fact that you caved into peer pressure is.

She sounds a lot more cool than you.

Maybe if you'd be more philosophical in real life you'd have an idea what to do when a moral question presents itself.
