OK maybe I need to hand over my man card..
A female friend of mine offered me to try and get a facial at the spa that she is a member at. And I was like: what the hell, lets try it at least once in a lifetime. So me and another male friend went on our scheduled time after work.
so at the entrance, we thought the place was very nice, with pretty girls manning the front desk
At first they offered a menu which had like HUNDREDS of different facial treatments, obviously we were like DOHH (they had weird names like seaweed facial, milk, coconut, whatever)
then the receptionist told us to just get inside and the skin specialist will reccomend the correct treatment based on our skin. then we said, OK and we went inside.
The facial room was very well done, with double beds so my friend and I were next to each other. It even had its own shower room. But I did not shower (eventhough a shower would've been nice since I came straight from work) because the thought of going naked in front of my friend would've probably added a lot to the gayness feeling that I felt that night.
THEN came the upsell. So this one girl that was my therapist was like: oh wow, your skin is very dirty and it has a lot of acne and blackheads, you should take this one special treatment called blablabla (forgot what it was called), and I was like: suree...
Then she also offered to clean the blackheads on my nose and my chin, for additional fee of course. I thought, since this was the first and probably the only time that I will ever do this, lets go for the full monty, and then said YES.
BIG MISTAKE.
At first it was quite nice. I lied down on the bed and the therapist cleaned my face using some soap and moisturizer that was really pleasant smelling. She then put some kind of oil on my face, which is supposed to enlarge the pore so the blackhead and acnes come out easily. Also she had this one machine that blew warm vaporized water to my face.
But then she took out the tools of horror.
She used this one steel prong that had a hole on the end, and she used this tool to RAKE MY FACE. I was like OMG that hurt but I was embarassed to yell in front of her so I just had to endure it.
And this torture lasted for more than 30 min. At the end I had tears dripping from my eyes, but the good thing is my eyes were covered by some tissue paper so the tear drops were not that obvious.
So after the torture was done, she gave me a face massage using some kind of oil which was very nice. then she put some masker on my face which was supposed to close back my pores.
So the whole ordeal was around 75 minutes. and the damage was around 200 RMB (I am in China) AFTER 50% discount. I was like WTF.. so girls do this monthly? man they waste so much money on maintenance just to look beautiful.
Afterwards my skin feels really smooth! especially my nose. It has never been that smooth before! But probably I wont do it again because it was SO PAINFUL.
