I want more than anything to get pictures of the ring, but I don't know how to photograph it. I have a couple of Canon S-series cameras, but I'm not sure what to do to photograph something that close.

About the ring though: I bought it from a local jewelry store that's been in business a long time instead of a major retailer. The setting was chosen by me out of their small, but good selection. The setting has .35 carots of channel set diamonds in the band that surround the center stone. There is a lot of decorative work around the ring that sparkles. All of the channel set diamonds are G color princess cut and the center stone is a G color, VS1, .8 carot round GIA certified diamond. The coolest part of the whole buying process for me was to be able to zoom in on the girdle of the diamond and be able to read the laser inscribed number that you can't see with the naked eye. Really cool stuff to tag a stone that way. I'll get pictures of it as soon as I figure out how to photograph it.

ongratulations.... I'm going to be engaged soon also (assuming she says yes). I just talked to her parents the day after Thanksgiving and they both like me. I got their blessings and I will popping the question this Saturday coming up (her birthday). Seems like a lot of people getting engaged around this time of year

She mentioned it that night in the car...I didn't want to ruin the surprise, so I said, "I don't think your dad even likes me..." That put her in a bad mood. We ended up going to 3 restaurants before we found one that she'd go in...I wanted to propose outside and had taken her to a park, but she said it was too cold to walk around.

Bad Mood + 3 restaurant shuffle + aversion to cold = your future
