Money being no object, what desktop would you buy. He's thinking Dell. I've tried to convince him to let me build his since I have built every computer everyone else in my family uses, but he is adament about buying a pre-made system.

Any thoughts? I have no clue about any of the manufacters anymore...

Money being no object, I see nothing wrong with that machine. Why XP Media Center though? Isn't he just looking to do productivity and whatnot?

Hrm... good point, asking dad for clarification on that now...

Are dell's good overall? Any other companies to look at?

Thanks man, definitly appreciate it.... Yes he was considering the media center one, the Tech guy at his company suggested that model to him.

mrwabam, I would hesitate to get Media Center if you're not going to use any of its features. If your dad is doing productivity, just get XP Home. He's not going to use any of the Media Center features, and all that extra UI stuff will just be a waste.

My $0.02

lol phantom.......

Has anyone actually thought of asking what his uses are going to be....video editing, gaming, email, internet etc....

Different uses = different requirements!
