So I got tired of commuting in my '01 Frontier CC...

and went to the Honda dealer with the wife the other night and bought an '06 Civic.

Drove it in to work today and it's a really nice ride - way better to sit in traffic in than the Frontier! The 5-speed auto is smooth, the ride is much more sporty than I would have expected and the faster you go, the quieter it gets - at 70mph you can barely hear the engine turning at just over 2000 RPM.

Now I just need to figure out if I should keep the Frontier or sell it...

the new civics look MUCH better than the older ones, especially the 2 door.

It kind of downplays the new acura RL though.. because they look a lot alike.

EDIT:

And I really want a smaller truck. If you live near atlanta, pm me maybe we can work something out

Pics? I was just at the local Honda dealership and finally got to see the hybrid civic in silver... but we might just end up getting a regular civic. What color did you get? I assume you got the sedan, not the coupe?

I got the sedan in Atomic Blue. I'll see if I have some time for pics tomorrow if I can get home before the sun goes down.

it's no surprise the Civic runs quieter / smoother... they're just so refined by now.

Unfortunately, due to supply and demand it's rather tough to get a deal on the new Civics. I wound up paying MSRP ($17.8k) and got the mudflaps that they had already installed and the trunk tray included - about $130 worth of accessories if you get them on-line and install them yourself. Floor mats were standard (I got the LX).

Overall it was the easiest car buying experience I've ever had. We showed up at the dealership at 8PM, negotiated for about 3 minutes (dealer wanted $18.6k, wife said $16.9k, dealer said $18.2k because of the accessories, wife said MSRP AND the accessories that are in the car, dealer scowled at us and said OK), wrote out a check, and were on our way home by 9PM.

man card! wife closed the deal for you!

nice car. always a good choice to get an economical car over one with a big engine for the commute. Now if I only had 17k of my own to get something of my own that I could use to save money and the environment while I sat in traffic.

Yeah, when it comes to items that cost over $1k I need to give up the man card - I think my wife likes that "empowered" feeling on occasion so I indulge her. :)

I have found that women CAN (not always) be more ruthless when negiotiating. I think they're liable to make salesmen more uncomfortable.
