I got an old 100mhz Toshiba Satellite 420CDT for free. It works and all, but there is an issue. The cd rom drivers arent installed so the cd rom drive isnt working. Also, there is no internet. I have a Netgear wireless PCMCIA card, but it probably wouldnt work because the card is 32 bit, not 16.

Anyways, I downloaded the driver for the cd rom, but how would I go about installing them with no internet or the cd rom drive not working? I dont have an external drive either. Plus, the thing doesnt have USB.

If you are wondering why I am bothering to mess with this old laptop, I want to install a bunch of old games, like Quake, Doom, etc.

Do you have a floppy drive?
If not, then your best bet is to get a 2.5" IDE -> 3.5" IDE connector adapter, or an external laptop hard drive enclousure, and plug it into your normal computer. Then, put the driver installers on the hard drive. Not elegant, but it will work, and Geeks.com sells HDD adapters for under 5$.

How would I go about using this adapter? Do I have to remove the hard drive from the laptop?

EDIT: There is no floppy drive.

Why is the CD rom Drive not working? I didn't know that Cd drives needed drivers for them.....

Apparently this drive needs drivers. I found the drivers on driverguide.com

Yes, you would need to remove the HDD from the computer and its caddy.
A drive adapter would also be internal, unless you got a USB->IDE adapter. (16$ at geeks.com). I highly reccomend buying the latter; they're quite useful.
