I got these Vista style files. I'm currently running WinXP pro. How do I use these style files? If I need to broaden my question, let me know. I'm new to this whole "style file" thing...

you might need to patch the uxtheme.dll file or whatever it is. You can go to the forums at neowin.net and they have a program that will do it automatically for you. After you have done that you can just click on the item if it is a .msstyles file. Otherwise put it in Windows/Resource/themes/ (i think this i the location) and it should be under your display options.

Thanks BigChee! They work, and look pretty good, too! I'll PM you the link where I found them if you'd like

Looks like a GNU desktop to me... first they rip off xerox then mac os x then certain GNU projects... typical. It does look good however.

ssssh
What they don't know won't hurt them

But irregardless what OS your using it's pretty easy to make them look fancy. The difficult part is having it fancy and not take up all your desktop space with doo-dads you only use once in a blue moon.

I'm using the Longhorn Inspirat Bricopack. For anyone interested, you can get it here:
Longhorn Inspirat I tried the Vista theme and patched it with UXTheme (which is what you'll need) but it didn't change enough of XP for my liking. The L.I. Bricopack changes just about everything.

Here's mine
The system monitor is Rainmeter w/skin.
