So I got rid of my printer... (new cruncher pics)

...and replaced the space with 3 crackers provided by one of our friends here in the dc forum. Pretty good deal I might add. These may or may not go into that future cluster I've been dreaming about, but for now, there going to help keep my workspace above freezing. 3 1800 athlonXPs@2100 plus my 1.8 p4(I need to crank it up a bit soon), purr nicely while I nap not even 5 feet away during lazy afternoons. I got about 25wu's from the xps in the first 24 hours, though it took about 30minutes a piece to set them up, so not quite 24hours. I have no network or kvm switches, so I have to harvest the wus every couple days; no biggie. If you want to help me out, just look for the free hardware thread here, or my fs/t thread in the trade forum. The pics are bad, but investing $25 in a camera will do that to you.

free hardware; take it take it:gift:
it can't crunch, if it has no mainboard🙁
defender of the racks🙂

Ehh, it's another cold & boring friday night, what did you expect me to do with my time? I still need to find parts to fix the vaio, & haven't made up my mind on my future main rigs, so this will have to do for now.

Oh well, happy crunching people.

I can probably dig you up a 5 port hub (and make you some patch cables, just tell me how long you need them) if you'd like to re-emburse me the shipping it's yours.

Fine systems. 😀

Sorry I don't have much useful leftover networking equipment, but it looks like some other TeAm mates might be able to help. 🙂

I also do not have any extra or leftover network stuff. 🙁
I do, however, have a nice little program to access your networked computers without a KVM. The program is called VNC and I have it available for dl Here

GunDog - Yes, the member I bought it from has it alread installed. He explained it to me, but I really had no idea what it was. I took a look at it, & all the settings seemed over my head. If there's a walkthrough available online, I'll probably eventually find it.

lobadobadingdong - I appreciate the offer, but I'm looking to expand in the near future, as well as take some of the other pcs I have at home, & wire them up. Needless to say, I need big, trusty switch. I just missed out on a good 16port dell on the trade forum, but ebay has some nice ones I'm waiting on. I'm not in too much of a rush, but having to link up the units every couple days is a tad bothersome.

Being the member that sold it, 😉 the VNC version that I included on each was UltraVNC which has a larger set of features, and based on experience was also a bit faster. 🙂

Basically each of the rigs runs the server version of UltraVNC, you run the client version on the PC you want to be sitting at, and when prompted put in the machine name of the rig you want to connect to. Enter the password(provided in previous PM) and then go about doing what you like in the window. It's sort of like Terminal Services or Citrix Shadowing or GoverLAN if you've ever used any of those to control remote sessions.
