Coming home from the movies at about 10:30 at night. Come up to a red light, Im in the right hand lane making a right hand turn. Typical rule, right hand turn on red after stopping when clear. Now there is a sign here that says no right hand turns on red. Reason being, during the day this is a very busy area. It is also a common place for bikers to cross during the day. (Lotsa bikers in FL).

At night though, its pretty much dead. I NEVER follow this rule at night. If its completely clear, and there are no cars coming, I go. As I did on that night. No one around, car in front of me turns. I move up to position, look... nothing... so I go. If I had sat there and obeyed the sign I would have waited prob. 2-3 mins with NO ONE around. Its a really long light.

Anyways, as soon as i turn I see a car turning out of the gas station just down the road. Its a cop, and I knew it instantly. He pulls me over.

Know what happens? Nope, I didn't get a ticket. I successfully evaded my 5th ticket in a row! Thats right! After being ticketed 3 times in a row, Ive finally mastered the art of being pulled over and getting no ticket! 5 in a row now! Woot woot!

I woulda been pissed if I got a ticket for some BS like that anyways.

Yes, but is sacrificing your virture really the best way to avoid getting a ticket...?

Simple rules i learned that seem to work flawlessly when being pulled over. Turn light on inside car. Place hands on steering wheel. Be honest and somewhat apologetic, but not overly so. Don't try to BS the cop, cause he's seen it a million times.

5 times in a row its worked.

To add to this:

Turn off engine, put the vehicle in park. Also, when he asks for your license and such, tell him that you are going to reach in your pocket or in the glovebox, etc.

turning right on red when there is a sign that says it is not allowed is worse than running any old red light. worth more points on your licence.

but for whatever reason, you are much less likely to get a ticket for it than going straight through a light :)

What would Peter Griffin do? He's lucky he hasn't run into the one straight cop yet.

I witnessed a car do that and then the police immediately started to follow him from a nearby parking lot. Then he just turned around and went away. I never understood why he did that.

I'm surprised the sign doesn't give you a time. I know of a few turns around here that say "No right on red between 6am-6pm."

You got 3 tickets and got away 5 other offenses? Wow!!

How long have you been driving?
How old are you?
Do you understand the rules of the road?

PS: before I forget, where do you live? I am going to make sure I AVOID that area.

But if you got 8 pullovers... that's more than just being the random fish that gets caught when everyone's speeding... 8 times? You're definitely doing something wrong unless you're a helluva lot older than me and have those spread over like... 40 years or something.
