mattlear, if you were on the opposing team and was on the ice when you gave my player a butt-end to the throat I'd come after you instantly, no second thought. WTF are you thinking?! You don't give a guy a butt end to the throat because he cross-checked you, you're a fscking retard if you think that's the way to get back at him.

The correct way to deal with a cheap shot by the way, is to tell the opposing player to keep his head up (even in a non-contact league), and level him with a clean hit when the opportunity comes up. When you get called, you go straight to the box and keep your mouth shut.

Did you miss the part where he almost broke my neck? He cross checked me in the neck man. If you don't think THAT is a cheap shot, well, I'm sorry. I guess I'm not going to convince you otherwise.

Oh, and funny, no one on the other team came after me either. They saw what their guy did, and when I got back up and gave him that shot, I think they all realized he had it coming.

He flat out took a run at me for no farking reason and damn near decapitated me. Sorry if you disagree with my retaliation. We all dispense justice differently.

And if you had permanently hurt or killed the guy, you would've gone to jail and lost everything you had, not him.

I'm not saying don't retailiate; I'm saying retaliate in a way that's not going to put you in any serious trouble. For example, a stick to the crotch. Elbow to the face. Something along those lines. Possibly collapsing someone's airway is a whole different thing.

My nose/face is so sore right now. It's been 24 hours and while the inside of my nose seems like it's stopped bleeding, I can still hork up blood from the back of my throat.

I have no respect for this player anymore. I'm waiting to hear from the league if the guy will be suspended or not.

I got crosschecked in the face one time when I was playing hockey too. Really sucks for about a week. My nose wouldnt stop bleeding for like 4 hours. Next time I was on the ice with the guy I retaliated REAL bad. He didnt touch me for the rest of the night. He got his crosschecking penalty and my retaliation wasnt seen.

It really does suck when you have to play against goons on the ice (especially when they are much bigger than you). For the type of league that you described, I am surprised that such behavior occurred in the first place. If the league doesn't suspend him or take some sort of action, make sure to raise hell.

Even back when I played in a peewee hockey league, I was one of the smallest on the ice. One of the things I quickly learned was how to try my best to avoid getting hit, and how to pick my battles wisely.

cross check to the face... dude that warrants more than a league suspension. How about him paying your medical bills for messing up your face, or criminal charges.
