So I got blood drawn today

and the thing they poke you with had a length of flexible tube that went to the thing that fed the vial. It was fucking awesome! People are usually taking 7-12 vials from me so the whole jerking the needle slightly with each vial insertion was annoying as hell, and I already don't deal well with needles.

i get sick or go into shock when they take my blood
if it was meant to come out of my body, there would be a valve

I get that, which is moderately embarrassing as I spend quite a lot of time doing it to other people. :$

I'm OK with blood loss or needles, its just the whole venopuncture thing that makes my lights go out.

I like it when I get blood drawn.
/masochist

same. i like to watch the vials fill up. needles don't bother me at all. While i dislike them they don't bother me.

worst one i have ever had was a cortisone shot in the shoulder. that hurt.

I got a shot in my arm a while back, my arm started tensing up like a cramp almost. Next thing I know the room is black and i'm now laying down on the hospital bed thing.

Only happened that one time, I've had blood drawn and other shots and never felt dizzy.

I enjoy watching the vials fill up, as well. 😀

Wow, I had that this morning as well! First time I had seen that setup. The needle itself was so fine that I hardly felt it. It did take a little longer to draw the required amount through the finer needle, but infinitely more comfortable.

yes, i can get a shot, a flu shot or whatever in the muscle and it just is mildly annoying, but the thought of a break in my hydraulic system is too much

I screamed like a girl once when the nurse took my blood many years ago. i told her i'm much tougher IRL and she promised not to tell anyone about my little scream, even though i'm sure everyone in the ER heard it.

she came back a few minutes later and gave me a lollipop. imagine that, a guy in the mid 30s screaming like a bitch and getting lollipopped. twas embarrassing. 🙁

Needles and such usually make my blood pressure drop to the point that my vision starts to go black, and I turn a delightful corpse-white.

Whenever I have blood drawn I stare up at the ceiling and comment on how pretty the ceiling tiles look.

i had a cortisone shot in my knee once
it was extremely painful, but didn't make me dizzy/sick

yeah i didn't get dizzy or sick.

but damn it burned. my daughter was with me so i had to do my best to act like it didn't hurt. i was crying inside the whole time heh

after it kicked in though it was great. im willing to put up with 10 minutes of pain for the relief it gives.

I give blood every now and then, I find it's not too bad but sometimes the angle the needle goes in, or if they play with it too much can be bothersome. The part that hurts more is the thing they use to test blood iron though. It pricks a little hole in the finger and it stings for a day or so. I would hate having a condition like diabetes where I need to do this every day.

The needle they used on me was actually pretty thick. I bleed from it longer than normal, but with it staying perfectly still on me it was much better than usually.

I'm a masochist and I still don't deal well with needles >.> <.< Mostly the blood being taken kind. I passed out one time, but they were taking 20 vials O.O

Also, if you want to be depressed go to the walter reed medical center. A lot of people missing limbs/eyes around there : (
