aside from the usual coolness with driving the corvette and pontiac GTO, what really surprised me was the Buick Lacrosse and the Cadillac STS. my family has only owned japanese cars ( camry, accord, and s2000) for the past few years and i must say, cadillac has really come a long way.

I personally had never heard of the buick lacrosse until today. basically, they had a 'buick challenge' in which you compare the accord/camry/altima vs the lacrosse. it was shocking, the lacrosse was VERY quiet, and the interior was very comfortable. the dash was pretty simple, not ugly or offending by any stretch, and really had an elegant look to it. i would say the road noise was the quietest of them all, with the engine noise only second (very close second) to the camry. the altima was the worst of the group, loud engine, loud ride, rough, wasn't great. camry and lacrosse were pretty close in ride quality, but the lacrosse edges the camry out in terms of exterior styling.

the DTS and CTS were nothing spectacular, DTS had tons of body roll, interior was nice, but nothing incredible. CTS was kind of cheap inside, and didnt look that great from the outside. but the STS, man, that was killer. the interior was very very nice and clean/simple. Idle noise was almost non-existant, believe it or not, it was even more quiet than the MB e350 we tried. STS handled extremely well, and road noise was second only to the lexus es330 we tried later.

overall i was very impressed by the STS. the interior was astouding and the complaints i used to have about cads (like driving a boat/body roll) werebasically eliminated in the STS. ride was firm but supple- and the car looks pretty nice from the outside. on top of all that, the sts base starts at $41k!!!

what do you guys think?
