I had cut my t-mo sim card down to use with my IP4 a while back.
I sold the IP4 for $600 a few days ago and had to go back to my HD2 but the sim is not working to good.
So I went to a T-mo store to get another sim cause I told them I lost my phone.
While I was there I was asking if they had any special deal cause I have a new line I can activate.
I asked them about the G2 that was FREE on T-mobile online but I assumed it was for new customers only.
The guy said he could probably price match it and it would be good for a new line on a family plan.
I figured add a line for $5 + first month of $10 data + $200 ETF = a $215 G2 for me.
He asked his boss and said he could priced match it.
He also said for the new line, he could move the $10 data to my current number(he assumed I didn't have data for my line).
I don't know how but after doing all his stuff, he found out I already have data on my line but yet he still only open a new line for me with only a $5 charge.
So I walked out of the store with a brand new G2 totally FREE and only liable for the extra $5 per month.
$5 x 24 months contract = $120 G2.
Haha, I made out like a bandit.

Are you sure he didn't somehow switch you to a $20/month Android data plan? From what I have read the G2 does not work with old T-Zones or Web2Go plans. Some people say it will work for a few hours but then T-Mo will block the data based on the IMEI (they know you're using one of their Android phones and will force you to get the Android data plan).

No T-Mobile has the new tier data plan.
$10 for 200mb with a new 2 yr contract.
$15 for 200mb if you don't want to extend.
Good for any phone.

I dn't know if you understood what I stated.
He knew I openned up a new line just to get a new phone because I told him I lost my phone.
He also thought my current line didnt have a data plan on it.
Since I'm opening up a new line with data, he can just move the data and attached to my current line.
After he found out I already have data on my current line, he still only made me sign for a new line @ $5 and nothing else.
Got a shinning new G2 totally FREE.

Hows the hinge on the G2? Curious to see if the newer models actually do have spring loaded hinges or if the Z-hinge is the same. Rumor mill says the HTC Merge, G2 for Verizon, goes back to a traditional hinge design. But you also get Sense and Bing.

I think its the same hinge.
I have no plan to use this phone.
I know it has the potential to be the best Tmo Android phone but I hate physical keyboard.
I got it because I knew I could trade it off for another Tmo phone.
Worst case, I can trade even up for a Vibrant.
Is it worth it to trade for the 4G or HD7 ?? Even if I have to add a little bit of money ??

Shrug. I'm contemplating the MT4G to replace my Droid 1, but with LTE and dual core hand sets only a few short months away, its a poor time for me to replace my phone.

I wouldn't consider the Vibrant a step up from the G2, G2 is a much better phone in all aspects. The Glacier, depends whether or not you like Sense or can forego the physical keyboard.

HD7? No idea, I'm not a Winmo fan, personally. HD7 is a nice phone, but I'd have to say holding off on any WP7 devices is a good idea. None of them are dual core, none of them are 4G ready on any carrier. Means the current crop of WP7 devices is going to have a short life span, IMO. I'd wager you'll see plenty of HD7s, Focus', etc, on Ebay in about 4 months.
