So, I got a pay raise and no one told me.

That's cool with me. Was looking at my last couple pay stubs and noticed a slightly higher rate on there, about 3.3%. Granted, it's not really very much, especially considering what I get paid now, but it's better than nothing 🙂

Nothing as in; getting no compensation for your work? or as in receiving a pay raise rather than not receiving one at all?

/yes you can quite tell I'm jealous 😉

that happend to me too. I started getting a little more in each paycheck, and sure enough I had gotten a raise. Nobody told me, when my 3rd year anniversery came around I just got another 3% or something like that. Which, like you said, isn't a lot but in this economy I'll take whatever I get. I guess companies are just starting to give out auto raises now without reviews to save time and hassle.

They figured out that if you fired everyone in HR whose sole responsibility is to give employee reviews, that you could give EVERYBODY a raise.

Last time I got a pay rise, it corresponded with a rise in tax rate, so I ended up taking home considerably less than before.

It was the first time in 18 months that my pay had risen - it had dropped significantly on 2 seperate occasions prior to that (supposedly, due to 'more sociable' working hours, but the work was a lot more intense and the hours less convenient each time).

free? He must have been living up to what they expected, so its not really free in a sense, but in another sense it could be considered that since noone told him
