So I go to a well known restaurant chain...

to get lunch this morning. We'll call the chain "Under-Route" and I ask for a sandwich. Turkey, Ham, and Cheese on Wheat. No problem, lady starts making the sandwhich. Get to the part where they add on all the toppings...

"just plain" for me.
She asks "You don't want anything on it?".
I say "No".
"Lettuce?".
"No"
*puts lettuce on sandwhich* "That's How I like them".
*me in shock*
*she wraps up sandwhich, says " that'll be $x.xx"
"uhhh, i'm not paying for that, I said no lettuce"
"you didn't want lettuce?"
"No"
"I'll make another one"
*she repeats process this time with no lettuce*

Wtf man... Wtf?

Note: Just for clarity, no language problems at all, spoke clear english. Afterwards, she shook her head and said "I don't know why I did that". I still checked to make sure she didn't do anything to the next one she made in case she was pissed.... Any thoughts on what gets done with sandwiches like that? Guys at work thought she may have done that because "That's the way I like them" = free lunch for her on a mess-up?

probably just didn't here you right. She was responding by saying "Thats how I like them" in response to you "liking" plain with lettuce. no biggie

Clearly, she wanted a free sandwich for herself - the way *she* likes them!

You wouldn't buy the one she made first, so... no sense wasting it.

who the heck asks for a "plain" sammich...that makes no sense...and on top of that paying for a sammich at "under route" is only worth while if your getting as many toppings as possible.

at subway, I get plenty of those sandwich artists who are not understandable. One time, I finally just said "yes" after he had to repeat himself 4 times. I still have no clue what he said.

She was either making herself a free sandwich for lunch "by accident" or she just didn't hear you. I doubt their was any malice for you involved.

as an employee i would think she gets lunch free regardless but i could be wrong.

in my opinion she was either in some other mental zone or she is certifiable. since she acknowledged her actions, i'd say she was just in a weird mental state temporarily.

So you got the secret sauce, then.

I ask for a plain sandwich. I just don't want any of that other crap sullying the taste of the meats and cheeses.

shiiiiiiiiieeet on a stick.

I've worked in a Subway before, some things get to be so routine that what the customer says goes in one ear and out the other... most people gets lettuce, so she probably just did it out of habit.

I feel you on the plain sandwich....I usually dont get anything on it but the meat and cheese....maybe some black olives. I ALWWAYS get a weird look or questioned "thats it??"

you momo

she was flirting with you

what a goob

you missed the old "lettuce on the sandwich flirtation"

what she was trying to say was, I get off in the afternoon, come back later and give me some of your mayonaise

goob

Did you see that!

Dude said he wanted lettuce, then he acted amazed when I put lettuce on!

I had to make him another stupid sandwich!
