So, I found the style of beer I like - but it is pricey - any cheaper ones?

Try Boulevard "ZON" ale. It's their wheat beer with a bit of lemon and corriander added. I can buy six packs of it for the same price as Budweiser/Miller products.

The Bud Light Wheat is actually pretty decent. It's been my current "light & cheap" beer of choice.

I doubt it'll be cheaper, but if you get a chance you could try out Coronado's Orange Avenue Wit. Very similar than (but much better to) Blue Moon IMO, and it has the orange flavor going on too.

You're an idiot. Wheat ales usually are usually brewed with orange peel and coriander, and an orange slice will enhance the flavor. Note that you don't put the slice IN the beer. Wheat ales are the fastest growing type of beer in the US.

Anyway, Budweiser just came out with a wheat version. It's not too bad, but it's a little more watery than Blue Moon. I'd compare it to Maxwell Hourse vs. Starbucks. They both get the job done, but you can tell the difference ;) Wheats tend to be more expensive to make because of the more expensive ingredients. It's my beer of choice too so I feel your pain.

I guess you've never actually ordered a Blue Moon then? They put orange slices in the glass when you order it.

Similar to how many times people will put a lemon slice in Hoegaarden.

There's nothing wrong with a good wheat beer, but Blue Moon is shit.

Keep spouting off like you know a damn thing though...

Sam Adam's Hefeweizen and White Ale are two of my favorites. Probably about the same price as Blue Moon.

Coastal Wheat (lemon), Cherry Wheat, and Blackberry Witbier are all good alternatives if not a little more fruity than the first two.

So I like wheat ales. I like blue moon in particular. Where I live it is 8.50 for a 6 pack of bottles. . . any 'cheaper' ones that I may like as well?

cheaper wheat =

Blue Moon is not hard to find - at least here in LA. I usually see it on special $12 or so for a $12 pack.

Try that Bud Light Wheat stuff - not bad at all.

I had a 6-pack of Arrogant Bastard a while back and that was some great stuff. Think it ran me $12 for a 6-pack.

And besides having the description of "beer" it's got about as much in common with a wit style of beer as mountain dew does with coca cola.
