So I found an SD card on my bus today

...and I have no idea who it belongs to. I've looked over what little is on it, but so far all I know is 1. it probably belongs to a girl in middle school and 2. they know someone with a kitten named tiger. Obviously, come monday, I could just ask if anyone has a cat by the name of tiger, but given how paranoid people are I'd probably get sued for stalking or something idiotic like that. I could just keep it, but that would be pretty lame and I don't have any real use for another SD card. So what do you think?

Could tape it back exactly where you found it in hopes they retrace their steps and nobody else grabs it.

Well... might be tricky getting the same bus, and it could've slid around on the floor? Prob won't work.

When the bus is full, tell all the brats to shut up and make an announcement that you found a memory card. Ask anyone who claims it to describe a couple pictures on it, whoever does is the owner.

Alternatively post a notice on the bus saying the same thing.

Actually I have the same bus every day (unless it's down for maintenance), and I plan on returning it, my only question is whether or not you'd let on to anybody, the kids or my boss, that I looked at what's on the thing. I don't think it should be a problem, but so many people are just plain uptight about privacy and I'm curious to see what you all have to say

No, just for the sake of it, no.

Wait...are you the busdriver? I'd just ask if anyone lost a memory card...and if someone says yes, ask them to describe the card (brand...SD or CF). No need to relay the info that you looked at it. Unless you want to say you did to identify who it might belong to. Up to you really. I'd probably just go with asking if anyone lost it and have them describe it though.

They probably wouldn't know. Just ask if they lose *something* and find out what it was.

Fill it with CP and drop it off at the lost and found.

Hmm.....looking at the poster.....I'm suddenly thinking of something Japanese. Anyone else?
 ;)

"Yeah...um, those pics totally weren't mine."
<shifty eyes>
"Can I have the card back now?"

Did you check the EXIF data for a name? My A570 asks for a name and includes it in each pic by default.

There wasn't any identifiable information on it? Her mistake, I guess. When I fixed computers at college, I found that most folks would return stuff if it had an address or phone number on it.

I once got back a lost Zip disk back while I was in college because it had my resume on it and he said that I "seemed like a smart guy". It had some term papers and programs on it, so I was happy to get it back.

I found a floppy in middle school minus the cover (5 1/4)...it was fuller brush / ophelia splits for the Apple ][. We were on a bus to Cape Kennedy.

Later I got busted for selling printed images (Grappler+ and Apple DMP FTW! in 1986) on another bus.
