It's been a work over time.

The Sofa ya mean? he he

Yeah actually me and the wife both just sleep on it on the weekends sometimes watching flicks, thought ya meant the speakers at first.

They've just been acquired over time.

And thanke for the compliment.

The AJ Pioneers actually seem pretty reasonable if you wanted to go off the wall for the money from scratch these days though they are 6 ohms, I really do like that new center one.

The sofa has many comfy cushions :)

I'm so glad to see someone has posted this!

Since so many of you have h\posted your experience, perhaps you'll be able to help me figure out a particular problem: I'm running an X-Fi Platinum (drive bay and all) in a Win7-64 machine, and I can't access the card at all.

It's running; it sends "regular" audio, as well as DD and DTS signals, through the digital output to a Yamaha receiver.

But I can't access the Creative Console, select an audio-in source, or anything like that... Any ideas why? Are there any reliable current drivers/software packages (either official or unofficial) for this card and this OS?

If you use a digital output for audio, what can an add-in sound card do to change the signal to your amp vs. the integrated audio?

If you are using analog out, then I could easily see the sound card having lower noise levels. For example, my last work computer (Dell Precision workstation of some sort) had a really noisy headphone output. In the past I've owned laptops that would broadcast very audible interference from a USB mouse onto the headphone port.

To the OP, thanks for the information. I have been having a lot of trouble with the on-board audio with my new Haswell system, so this inspired me to put my old Audigy SB1394 card into the system. With the PAX drivers it works great!

Do you get this incredibly loud "POP" whenever your system comes out of sleep mode? The first time I woke my system after putting the card in I almost hard a heart attack. So far this is the only issue I am having, and it is still better thatn fighting the on-board problems I have been having.

Thanks again!

I do have that loud pop, it's not TOO loud, and it won't damage the sound system, but it's there, yes.

My does it every time I turn on the computer, not just out of sleep mode.

I had a similar thing on my old SoundBlaster SE. Nothing to worry about.

Thanks for the followup. I thought I remembered my Audigy doing the same thing back when I was using it full time, but it has been so long I couldn't be sure.

It's hard to believe such an old card still works. I honestly had to open my case to make sure I still had a PCI slot!

I didn't myself, I actually had to purchase a PCI to PCI-e riser to put the old Auzentech back in and it's wire tied into the slot though you can't really see it too well in the pics.
