The email looked genuine, however. In my forwarded message, i sent.

This spam email was received in my yahoo account. It looks
genuine but contains virus attachments blocked by Yahoo
mail. I do not have any accounts with Chase.

A few hours later, spoof@chase.com replies to me with... *drumroll*

lol, great opportunism. The real Chase never sent a reply back?

I think I knew an Abhishek in elementary school, btw. Or maybe it was one of my sibling's friends.

How are you sure it wasn't the spoofer again? By your own admission you aren't a member (which the reply email contradicts). In my mind I had imagined a scenario in which a scammer sends you an email, your forward it to Chase, Chase tries to scare the scammers by threatening them in some way, and with the scammers being experienced, they send out an email assuring the legitimacy of the whole ordeal, which would be even better if the real Chase didn't send you their own follow-up.

Haha the name they give with them totally give it away. Can't these fuckers be creative and use a common name that sounds a bit trustworthy? Only people who get caught by it is the Australians

It could be the spoofer if Chase contacted them. I find that highly unlikely though as Chase said they would follow up.

I think it is incompetence.

lol. If I were an HR person at Chase, I would never hire someone with that name as a security person. It's unfortunate, but man that makes it look spammy.

It's Chase, what do you expect? They aren't as bad as Capital One but getting there.

Someone got a hold of my Chase CC # the other day and charged ~$600 of travel and ~$100 of Boost pre-paid. Luckily they noticed it as fraudulent and called me immediately to cancel and re-issue the card.
