Overall it was a great experience. I went from a kindergarden class to a grade 7/8 class and then down to a grade 4 class. I had enjoyed the environment in the younger grades better. After this experience I would think that I would want to teach a younger grade as opposed to older grades (grade 8 +).

The students in the grade 8 class were very quiet and tried to be "very mature" , while the kindergardens and the grade 4's were acting like regular kids :D . There was also one genius (I do not use the word genius loosely, this kid is brilliant) in the grade 4 class.

In kindergarden, I remember on my first day in the class there was this one particular girl who was intimidated (i'm 6'0" and 265lbs) by me being present in the class (she would talk and would act shy infront when their teacher would ask her to answer questions, read the month , etc). By the second day she was talking to me :) . The kindergarden teacher was very surprised by this. (The students called me Mr. Jonathan) After the students left their teacher comes up to me and says "Mr. Jonathan I don't know how you did it, but she's talking to you, its amazing, most of the time she doesnt talk to anyone new." and that was precisely the case when the other teacher candidates had their three days in kindergarden. She would not talk to them at ALL. Today the last day I spent the morning in kindergarden and she was following me everywhere, had me help her read 4 books and she asked me questions (they are soo funny at this age) also she told me that I am a better teacher than the real teacher and her regular helper lol. The teacher was quite impressed by this, she told me I should be honoured that this child wasn't afraid of me and I was the only one she would talk to out of the 5 that came to her class. I was honoured. But wondering why would a child that was once so afraid of me, all of a sudden be so attached to me? I treated all the students the same, with respect and talked to them like I would talk to an adult, (the teacher said not to use a 'kid' voice).

I just hope the teachers I went to give my university a good report on me, they all seemed impressed by me. Also I gave them all a box of chocolates each :D maybe that would help a little. :)

Anyone else here in teaching? I really enjoy it, and would like to make a difference in students lives by helping to motivate and inspire students to achieve greatness in life.

You must have gotten a good school. Some schools are just glorified babysitters for punk kids.

ooh definitely it was a great school, next year if we get an elementary school again I would definitley try this school again. The staff and students are all great. The students are well disciplined and the staff are really good people. I don't think I could have asked for a better school.
