Buyer by the name of Geooctober (aka Geopass) bought an auction of mine ~ $200, instant payment required and paid for the auction and included a confirmed US address in Hayward, CA along with payment. Seemed normal.

That was until I did a bit of searching (which I always do following an auction) and this guy bids on thousands of products a month, waits for the seller to ship, then files a chargeback with frightening frequency. It seems its somehow related to a Korean company, I assume they buy products then ship them to Korea.

Obviously, i'm not in financial position to get screwed here. My auction was listed as UPS Ground, and I always send everything over $200 with full tracking and Adult Signature Req.

I'd rather not take the chance, and don't mind the neg if they decide to, but think I should just play it safe, refund the money and absorb with the FVF?

So i'm ok there, and I print the label right through the Paypal site. They do have alot of good generic feedback as well, but I dunno.

yeah that don't matter.

$$ value?

If > 250 I'm sure you know to get signature. Hell I'd ship it out UPS anyway, that way you have 2 layers of protection (SPP -> UPS insurance)

I'm wondering though, since I keep no balance in my PP account. Say in 20 days they file a chargeback, and I have no money in my acct. What does PP do? Does my acct just go negative?

Yep....that's all. Paypal does NOT access your bank account to make up the shortfall....your account will just go negative. Leave it negative long enough and they'll close it and try to prevent you from opening a new one.....but they "match" accounts by email address domains.....and you can only attach your current credit/debit card and checking account once, to the Paypal acct. you've already attached them to, so they cannot be reused to open a new one.

Is there any reason other than making your auction less attractive due to inconvenience that people do not request payment by money order only more often? If attraction is the only issue, how much does it really impact your sale? I have heard so many stories about paypal and ebay fraud that I can't imagine doing it any other way at this point.

Can't people stop payment on a money order though?

I don't believe there is anything that can be done once the money order is deposited into the recipient's bank account. If I am wrong I would like to be corrected though because I am relying on that assumption a lot for several things.

Just sent the following to the buyer after talking with an eBay powerseller rep on the phones;

Unfortunately I will need to refund your money and cancel the transaction. Your request to edit the name on the shipping label does not comply with Paypal Seller Protection Policies and I will not be able to ship the item under these circumstances.

As a result, I will refund your money shortly and submit a mutual agreement to release both of us from this transaction.

Thank you for your time and please contact me if you have any questions.

I'm refunding they money and sending a Mutual Agreement to dissolve the transaction and recover FVF.

Thanks for the help everybody, just not gonna take a chance.
