Originally when I looked at data plans it was like $75/mo for 50MB cap then like a dollar per MB over or something like that. I was too scared that even though I try to stay below 50 that some kind of update or something happens where I end up using a few 100MB and end up with a ridiculous bill.
I looked at plans recently and saw that they had 750MB for like 50/mo. Much more reasonable. So decided what the heck, I'll get it. At least I can receive and send pictures in text messages now, and it's kind of fun to be in middle of nowhere and be able to have internet, or even VPN into my house.
Was on a road trip recently and it was great to check up on the house while on the highway.
With that said, anything I can do to make sure stuff like updates don't start with data turned on? I denied google play and few other services from using data and I also set a hard limit on usage so it turns off data after 750MB, but just wondering what other things I can do to ensure I never go over the limit. My biggest fear is updates, as stuff randomly likes to update willy nilly without any kind of warning so I want to make sure that can't happen if wifi is not on. Is this default behaviour?
On a day to day basis I barely use data though so I almost feel like it's a waste to even have it, but it's still nice to have when I'm out of wifi range and this new plan is not even that much more money than my original voice/text plan.
