I want that 37" LCD but not for $999.

If it hits $799 shipped, I'm all over that.

cool, i got the 32" olevia as well.

My total came to $578 - 10% discover cash back, so right around $530 is my total.

Shipped today, also put in my order for the directv HD receiver + dish. I have regular directv, but they need to replace the dish since it does not support HD. Cant wait!

Target has a special. through Ebates for 6.5% :D

I was gonna jump on the target deal, but passed on it due to the lack of tuners

same here. was really debating about the $620 westy 32W6 or the upcoming $600 komodo at costco... too bad i don't have a membership.

I was going to get the Syntax Olevia that Shawn purchased but the lack of HD tuner/QAM killed it for me.

The Sceptre Komodo 32" for $599 @ CostCo starting 11/20 is looking very tempting.

Connections Port
ATSC/NTSC/Clear QAM Input
Component Input X 2
S-Video 4-pin DIN & Audio (R/L) input X 2
Composite Input X 2
Composite Out X 1
VGA (15pin), HDMI (HDCP)
SPDIF out

yeah the sceptre seems to be a new model. i wonder how good it would be?

still, if i can score one of those $480 W3213's... that'd be freaking awesome!

What do you think the chances are of the Westy being offered ONLINE?

That would be freakin' awesome. No way I'm going to get in line at 9PM for that LCD.

That's an awesome deal!!!!

Westinghouse 32" LCD with built in HD Tuner and HDMI

$799 regular price
$479 Black Friday price

That is looking pretty hot. I haven't bit the bullet on the 46" Samsung DLP yet and that would fit much nicer with the existing HT setup...

Check the model # I would go for the newer HL-S instead of the older HL-R.

I got in on this deal too, used my Discover Card as well. My set is actually in Greensboro right now, and I'll get it delivered tomorrow. Will let you know how it is!

The funny thing is that to keep it, I am going to have to sell my existing TV (30" Sony CRT HDTV). I'm thinking I can sell it for $400-$500 on Craigslist. If I can't sell it, I'll be selling or returning the Olevia.

Unless you find a sucker I don't think you can sell your Sony for $400-$500, maybe $300.

It does, but without it you can't hook up a lot of stuff, like old VCRs, camcorders, or gaming consoles.

edit: my digital camera has a composite output. wouldn't be able to hook that up either.

1 shared S-video/composite

what does this mean?

If I can't get anymore than $400 for it, I'll be selling the Olevia for ~$550 or returning it. The Sony is paid for and has a nice picture so I'm okay if that's how it plays out. When we bought this TV a year and a half ago, I don't think anybody realized just how quickly LCD prices were going to plummet.

How about keeping the Olevia in the box and wait until the Sony sells? If it doesn't return the Olevia?

I want to compare the picture w/ the HDMI connection out of the DVR box. I'll have to ship it back at my expense for a return according to the website, but I'm okay with that. Set will be kept in immaculate condition.

I'm sure the Olevia will look stunning. My Westinghouse 32" from last year looked great although it had DVI. I bought a DVI to HDMI cable for $15 connected it to our cable HD DVR.

I thought you couldn't go from HDMI to DVI because of the DRM crap.

I think I went the other way? LCD was DVI and DVR was HDMI. It worked just fine with our cable HD DVR.

How do you know that? Plus I'd rather not wait outside at 4am hoping to get one. Last time I did that I didn't get the laptop that I wanted. Also, supposedly this LCD is nicer than the Westinghouse.

Good news; It's confirmed in the BB Black Friday ad scan
Bad news: Don't even bother getting in line at 4AM, there will already be 100+ people ahead of you.

Last year we visited BB and CC at 11PM they already had 40+ people in line and the cheap laptops I wanted were already spoken for.

The Westinghouse 32" is the better LCD and cheaper but ask yourself are you willing to spend 8 hours in line for it? If you're happy with the Syntax Olevia just keep it and sleep in on BF.

Couldn't you buy the Westy before Black Friday and take it in that morning and get a price adjustment?

Yeah, I didn't think that would work. DRM is supposed to prevent you from displaying copyrighted content on a display without HDMI. I guess for cable it doesn't matter.

Does built in tuner mean you still need the comcast box or it can decode QAM signals (unencrypted ones) meaning I can get CBS, Fox, NBC, etc in HD?
