I get 15mbps/2mbps on my verizon FIOS...thats about as good as we get here in the US.

If I paid another $150/month they'd upgrade it to 30mbps/5mbps

Maximum speed I've seen on any broadband connections currently in the UK is 8mb/1mb.

Be Unlimited and Freedom2Surf have announced they have plans to roll out 24mb (with either 1mb or 3.5mb max upload speeds) via ADSL2+, however ADSL2+ has not been approved by Oftel (the regulator for telecommunications in the UK)

As I said in PM - i'll believe it when I see it - and I haven't seen anything to prove it yet.
