Hell On Wheels is pretty good. I think I'd wait and catch it On Demand or DVD. I feel this way about a lot of shows...story lines move too slow to just see one a week.

The League is good; great if you play fantasy football.

purbeast0...you mentioned Rescue Me...that series is over. Definitely worth checking out on dvd though.

I really think Fringe is my overall favorite show currently on the air.

Doesn't seem to get much love but it's just a damn good show over the course of it.

Maybe not every single episode is "gold" but as a whole and with the intertwined story arches it's a very well done show with solid acting and story (IMO of course).

I think if anyone hasn't given the show a fair chance, just watch the first 2 seasons at least. It's a slow burn but often some of the best shows in history don't do great at grabbing mass viewership in the first season or two.

I rarely watch weekly TV, I almost always wait until I can watch the whole season over a few days. Here is a list of ones I enjoyed.
The Wire
24
Breaking Bad
Game of Thrones
The Sopranos
Firefly
The Office
Deadwood
Dexter
Downton Abbey
Sherlock <<<--- only 3 episodes, but very good, can't wait for the next season
MadMen
BSG
Luther
Justified
Walking dead

I plan on checking out MI5 and Sons of Anarchy from the recommendations in this thread.

Battlestar Galactica (keep in mind it's not really a sci-fi, and religion/gods/mythology play a huge role in the story and character development)

Arrested Development

Fringe (not a perfect show, but a lot of fun to watch)

How I Met Your Mother just made it on Netflix streaming. I really like Bones too.

just finished the wire. It was really good. Archer is good. If you like motorcycles Long Way Round was fun to watch.

Long Way Round (LWR) is a documentary television series, DVD set and book documenting the 19,000-mile (31,000 km) journey of Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman from London to New York on motorcycles. They travelled eastwards through Europe and Asia, flew to Alaska and continued by road from there to New York.

Lost started out good but the ending was worthless. I had to struggle to finish the last season. Kept telling myself to stick with it so I could see how they wrapped up the story..... Huge disappointment.

Another show to add to the list. "The Killing"

'Boss' and 'Homeland' are two that are on their first season, and are both great. The latter starring Damian Lewis and Clare Danes.

In one week i've found two awesome new shows to get into. It's a very good week indeed!

The Wire
The Shield

Episodes are about an hour long each and there are many seasons....it should either keep you satisfied for awhile or you won't get anything else done. :p

You haven't seen Dexter?

My two favorites all time:

The Wire
Deadwood

then The Sopranos.

I just got caught up on a couple of seasons of Nikita. The last episode of season two airs Friday night. Looks like it will be renewed for another season. Excellent story arc, but definitely a show you need to watch from the beginning, and not one you could watch each episode as a stand alone and have it make sense. And Maggie Q is pretty nice on the eyes, and Lyndsy Fonseca is smoking hot.
