My plan was to buy a used honda fit this summer but i rather put some money into this car until it totally craps out, the problem is that the the front speakers busted I can hear the cone rattling because its torn :|

This was the case for the back speakers so when my dad drove the car he put a pair of blaupunkt speakers in (cheapo $35 per pair, i'm fine with it) they all go to a xplod HU 52w x 4

can i just get another pair of cheap speakers to replace the front? any recommendations?

thanks

i would look into getting something mid-range... because you can always put the speakers in the next car... say the fit later down the road. something to think about as well.

I have a '97 Altima GXE Auto. Same generation as yours, I like it? Then again, it's my first car, but they're reliable and they get up and go for what they are.

Frequent problem with the Altimas. My 1999 Altima's front speakers tore up a few years ago and I replaced them. Luckily my 2nd gen uses 6.5's front and rear.

According to this link, the 1st gen uses 4x6's. You might want to double check that before you purchase.

Open it up and measure to see what size they are. It literally takes 10 minutes max, as all you should need to do is pop off two grills (one front, one back) to see what you have.

the grill doesn't pop off, its part of the whole door

I was hopping i wouldn't have to take apart the door till installation

Give us some pics of the speaker area in question? Hold a CD next to the grill and we can probably tell you the size.

Also, according to Crutchfield your car runs 5x7s in the front (wow...?) and 6.75 in the back.

It looks like you'll want to put 5.25 in the front, as I'm reading that some 5x7 speakers won't fit in the factory mount. I'll do more research, but if these will fit I'd grab them.

I just grabbed a set of these for a car of mine, and they sound excellent.

I think someone said to get 5 1/4" to make sure they fit. A lot of aftemarket 5x7"s might be too big or not fit properly. I'd recommend ordering something from Crutchfield AFTER you input your car model and everything. Only get things they say will fit, too...if you need any extra installation gear, I believe they send that too you as well.

Speaking of Blaupunkt, I'd completely recommend them. For the price, they're very good speakers.

However, if you're willing to spend a bit extra, get some of these. I had some Boston coaxials, and they sound great. However, I don't know if they pump out much bass (not that coaxials or small speakers will), because I've had a sub when I used them.

Good decision. Much cheaper and a new stereo can make a car feel quite a heck of a lot better than it did and more enjoyable. I'm badly in need of a setup in mine since I have no stereo right now (kicked it in, literally, because it sucked. Fvck Bose).

5x7 is your stock size. A 5 1/4 should also fit but you will need to modify the door with at least a plate, possibly cut it.

I have a 6.5" version of these at all four corners in my wife's car and they are not bad for a cheap speaker. Not alot of bass but nice and clear. World's different from stock

A 6x8 may also fit in some cases.
