Well, I was hanging out at home on Wednesday, and I noticed this guy I recognized from past experience checking out the house next door. I knew it was the son of the lady who lived there, his name was Tom, and he had broken into houses here before. I know the people who live there, and this kid is homeless, and is always in and out of trouble. When I first saw him, it looked like he was just knocking at the front door, which isn't super unusual since his mother lives there, but she was not home at the time.

I watched him out my side window for awhile and it became apparent he was trying to break in. He tried a couple times to force the front door, then he went around back for a couple minutes. He came back around to the front again and started trying to pry open the front window, then he gave that up and went over to check the greenhouse window on the side of the house. A girl was walking by at this point, so he sort of stopped and just tried to look like he was doing nothing. After she passed by, he went back around to the front and I saw him pushing in the cellar window. He must have opened it because I saw him turn around and disappear into the house. At this point I tried to call the homeowners since it was her son, but I didn't know their number. I called a buddy of mine who knew it, but he didn't answer, so I called the cops.

The cops came fast, and came without sirens. They parked away from the house, and started approaching it. At this point, one of the homeowners came home, apparently once I called, it was on the police scanner, and someone in town heard it and called him. So, they all went in, and I guess they found him in a closet. The cops came over and took a statement from me, and thanked me. They said people don't usually call when they see something. A few more cops came, along with about 4 detectives, and I spoke to a few of them. The other homeowner came home at this point because Roland, her BF who lives there with her and came home first, called her.

So, they carted him away...and he gave me a look because he knew I was the one who called. They took a bunch of pictures and took evidence and finally left. I thought it was all done, but my neighbor at 3 Kimberly came home around 4pm, and knocked on my door. He said he had been broken into. I went over there with him, and sure enough, he had come in through the front window, busted the screen, and a shelf on the window sill. I told him about what happened, and he called the cops. I guess he had broken in there, right next door to me while I was home, before he went to his mothers place...and I never heard anything. It was hot so I had my place all closed up with the A/C's going, and never heard a thing. I wasn't suprised though because up until the end of July, my buddy had been living next door for 10 years, and Tom had broken in there before. He probably had no idea that he had moved and thought he still lived there.

Anyway...my neighbor went to the police station and found they had some of his stuff, but not a jewelry box and a couple rings. Apparently at this point, he had confessed to both robberies, and he told them the jewelry box was in the woods nearby. My neighbor and I went down and started looking, and found the box after a little bit. We had to wait for the detectives to come and photograph it and claim it as evidence, but his rings were not inside. After the cops left, we looked around some more and found his rings hidden under a nearby rock.

So, all in all it worked out well...as much as I hate dealing with the police. The bad guy got arrested and will be in jail for awhile. The mother is not as worried now because she will know where he is, and that he has a roof over his head for the forseeable future, and everyone got their stuff back. I shouldn't have to testify either since he confessed.

Here's the news story from the local paper...

Stop driving like an idiot and you wont have bad experiences.

Right, that's why I have problems with the police right? You don't even know me, or how the police are around here, but you feel free to make judgments ok? I wouldn't want you to let facts get in your way.

Tell you what...why don't you and bradruth go find a private law enforcement chat room or something and stroke each others e-penises there.

You know what? You're absolutely right. I apologize, I was annoyed by the holier than thou, police do no wrong attitude from TB, and it had nothing to do with you.

How teh hell did you manage to find a ring under a rock?? :Q😕

When he didn't have the missing jewelry box with him, the detective asked him about it, and he said it was in the wooded area by out tennis courts. We found it before the cops came, and then they came and picked it up and took pictures.

Later on, when the rings that were in the box were still missing, we decided to go look in that same area. The rock was a large boulder near where the box was found, and the rings were sitting on the ground underneath it. They weren't actually underneath the rock, and the sun was glinting off them which is why we found 'em. He probably had put them there to pick up on his way out after breaking into his mother's place...

Like I said...he's non violent...he's kinda like a hippy gone bad.. 😉

Also, he is skinny enough to fit through one of those small basement windows....I'm really not worried at all..
