I didn't realize until I tried to do the same thing - I actually grow a lot of red in my facial hair. I come from a line of Irish, but don't have any of the distinguishing features... except this. It's very odd to have very brown hair and a mostly red/blond beard.

When I first started going gray, it was the reddish hair that went first...pepper with a touch of salt. Nowadays, it's harder and harder to find any salt in that mess of black pepper.

Let it grow...the itching stops after a couple of weeks...or months. (depending on the beard and the face...either it stops itching...or you just get used to it, I don't remember)

i'd say about 95% of the people i see with beards look dirtier because of their beard. usually the only ones that don't look dirty are the ones that just keep a close cut one that is well groomed.

usually you can also see that people's skin under the beard is pretty nasty with bumps and what not. bug again, depends on the type of beard.

Yeah, I keep a groomed and trimmed super short beard and I guess it looks ok.
