So I can't get into BIOS anymore after using a Windows theme modifier...

So I decided to install a program to modify my windows theme to the new vista type. Well, after being out of country for about 3 weeks during winter break, I come back to my computer and it's a total mess. I figure out that its the theme program, so I uninstall it, and everything's back to normal except for the fact that I don't see the BIOS or anything for that matter until I get to my windows desktop. Everything until then is blank on the screen, and I need to get into the BIOS to change my fan speeds. I would have done a reformat by now, but my friend took my Windows CD and lost it. I still have a valid XP Pro CD key that I've fortunately memorized. Do you guys know how to fix this problem? Thanks.

My specs are:

A64 3400+
DFI LanParty UT nF3 250Gb
1GB Corsair ValueRam
Hitachi 180GB Hard Drive
ATI Radeon 8500

Windows != anything to do with the BIOS aside from system calls. Are you running a flat panel monitor on DVI? If so, that's more than likely your issue, or your BIOS is initializing the PCI video slot instead of AGP at boot.

yea, I'm running a 2005fpw on DVI right now.

after I got back from my trip, my system was acting REALLY funky, and i figured out that it was the theme changer that was causing the problems. The theme changer has the ability to change the boot windows look too. I never had this problem before. the screen is just blank when it should be passing the bios and the windows loading part.

How did you come to the conclusion that it was a theme modifier? Many LCDs don't want to show the few first screens for some reason. I've had two with DVI and they do the same thing. But it's usually not so bad that I can't see any screens. On occasion with no detectable pattern, it will all be blank until the bootloader screen.

i came to that conclusion because the theme modifier WAS the problem. I've never had this happen before until the program started going all whack. Only after I uninstalled it did it not show the bios or bootloader screen anymore.

And what happens when you boot the system from a bootable floppy or CD? What happens when you unplug the hard drive and boot from a floppy or CD? If the software on your hard drive is causing your problem, then removing the hard drive should let the system try to boot and show the BIOS bootup screen, right?
