So I canceled my WoW account...

The game didn?t ruin my life and I don?t have contempt for it like many people do ? because they let the addiction consumed them.

I quit because I only played it a couple days a week for few hours a day and couldn?t justify spending $15 a month on it.

And when I did play, I spent all my time trying to get enough gold for a flying epic mount or running instances and grinding some faction to get exalted ? I was never into raiding.

Then yesterday my gold count reaches 5,300 and was on my way to purchase the 300 riding skill and the corresponding mount, and to quote Samuel L. Jackson?s character from Pulp Fiction, Jules, ?when I had what alcoholics refer to as a ?moment of clarity?.?

So the account is canceled, with the 5,300 gold still intact. A friend of my suggested I should sell the account and get all those monthly fees back. I still debating this, but where would one goes to sell the account securely? I?m pretty sure you can?t do it on eBay.

After I quit, I tried to sell my account on eBay. Yeah, damn Blizzard had eBay take it down :(.

Oh well, I'll just level more characters and make it worth more... not every account has a level 70 bank character :p.

Nothing wrong with the game tbh. If you can't justify playing it thats your perogative. However, breaking the EULA as if you deserved your money back is what Carlos Mencia calls, "dur duh duh."

I thought this would be one of those "I quit WoW and I exercise and have a GF now, which makes me a better person than everyone, regards if they play WoW or not." type of post. It's not good or bad you quit. It's fine you found the game uninteresting after a period of time playing. I'll suggest you sell the account for that extra cash. There are some loopholes and tricks when selling your account. You gotta know all of them to avoid being scammed.

I did it 3 times already. I only start playing the game after canceling it because at the end, I would make 300-400 USD in profits after the monthly fees.

hah I had a similar moment when quitting Eve Online. I thought, why am I saving up virtual money to buy virtual spaceships again? MMORPGs suck.

I never tried WoW myself and I dont ever plan to. However when the anniversary edition of EQ came out I figured I would renew my druid account and give it another whirl. In the retail box was a code for a free 30 day trial for a friend. I said to myself, to hell with a friend. I used the code for myself and PL'ed a Warrior to mid level 60's. Got it it's 1.0 as most of the stuff to MQ was already on my druid. Figured why not get it it's 1.5 and some Qvic gear with some ol buddies. So a full set of Qvic gear, 1.5, 160 some odd AA's and a few banked, all signets collected for CoA and the steps for the 2.0 minus the CoA drops and final raid. Poof, account expired. I put it up on ebay for auction, original owner, no hacks, legitly leveled and geared with the hassle of epic 1.0 done. Account sold for $385, bought the expansion pack for $19 shipped. So $366

Bottom line...
1-3 hours a day, 4 times a week in 30 days = Basically 48 hours for the month give or take. 366 / 48 hours = $7.63/hr. Guess the auction fee was my "taxes".
MMO's unless I find a way to squeeze more money outta it definitely are not worth it. I can make $366 in one hand in poker. lol

A lot of people I know make pretty decent money doing the botting thing. Have 4 or so warcraft accounts leveling at a time. Takes about 15 days to get them to level 60 then sell them for a $100 a piece. Not bad considering theres almost not work involved.

Lot of risks involved and its breaking blizzards EULA.

5300 Gold? Damn, is it that easy now? When it first came out, it took me 4 months to get ~1000 gold gross. Thank god I quite it, grades turned to crap. I just gave away all my stuff to guild members. Account is pretty barren...

Maybe it's just me, but I play it because I have fun...

I'm not saving up "virtual gold" because it's work.

And yes I still have a wife, and a life.
