Ok, i bought Corsair XMS TWINX PC3200XLPT 2-2-2-5 (2x512MB) memory, for about $250 or so from newegg...now, i have never built my own computer before, so i really have no idea what i am doing...but i see so many people talking about OCz as i look around, and now i think maybe i made a bad choice in memory, and could have spent $250 on OCz instead, and got much better memory than what i have now...what do you think?

In performance terms, It's all about the same, the differance between any two brands is 2% or less. Crucial, Kingston, and Corsair are three of the Top Makers of DIMMS. You made a fine choice, It's quality stuff that you bought. If you are running an athlon64 then you wasted your money and should have bought cas3 crucual; because of the intergradted memory controller cas3 performance is with in less than .1% of cas2.

G.skill
Patriot

What's the platform in question? AMD or Intel?

That's generic stuff that I stay away from with a 10 foot pole.

G.Skill and Patriot are hardly generic. Very nice stuff. For an FX I would have definately picked up two of the Patriot sticks

OCZ is for overclockers. You're not going to get much of an overclock out of an FX-55

Brands that were not around 5years ago in my book are considerd generic. Take a survey and you will find that most users and system builders recommend crucial over any other non-enthusiast memory. Crucial has a Long extended history of overclockabilty, it's memory is legendary umong Overclocing veterans.

Scary mentality if you ask me! Thanks for helping to build another monopoly like Wal*Mart, Microsoft and Intel! Crucial has customer service levels that are some of the highest in the industry. If you really want you can buy crucial from newegg.com but you won't be getting a lifetime warrenty like you would if you bought from crucial.com

Bad choice in motherboard IMHO.

I'd keep the Corsair. Its got a lifetime warranty no matter where you bought it.

newegg.com is one of the few online stores that will ship to APO/FPO addresses. thumbs up from them and they will exclusively get my business while i am overseas.
