Well, it's new to me. '97 Mazda Protege 1.5L 5-speed. Basically a commuter car to get me around cheaply. (it's rated at 30 city 37 hwy!) I'm 6'6" and the little car is actually pretty roomy.

Anyway, I go to Crutchfield's website to see what's out there to replace the factory stereo. They have this neat feature where you can select your vehicle and it tells you what will fit in it.

So I found a CD player for my car that I really like:

here

Then I searched for X559 on eBay, bought this one, and saved a few bucks!

here

I know buying used car audio stuff on eBay isn't always the best idea, but this guy has spotless feedback so I'm sure everything will be fine.

I can't remember what my point was.....

That's a sweet cd player. I don't like buying used electronics from ebay though

I looked at the ebay ad and noticed in the Location section the guy put: "my wife is a supermodel"

Maybe you should ask him for some pics with the CD player??

The Protoge's a nice little car, good choice. You do realise that you could have found a New Old Stock Nakamichi for what you paid for that Kenwood though, don't you?

I prefer the factory deck as long as it sounds good and has a cd player... It's less likely to get stolen. ;)

Uh, Nakamichi ain't factory buddy. Nakamichi is arguably the best sound you can possibly buy. Their TD-700 was a legend, and the CD-700 is absolutely astounding. Nakamichi CD receivers.

Specs depend on the model, but I'll put money on a Nak sounding better than anything Kennwood has ever built.

EDIT: He could have found a two year old Nak somewhere (possibly one that was new-in-box but hadn't been sold) and he'd have had better performance than the Kenwood, that was all I meant.
