I was trying to hold out and wait for the X, but I could resist any longer.

I left the spoiler on for a day, but it attracted too much attention. Everyone would pull up next to me and stare. So I had to take it off. It gets much less attention now, which is good. And visibility is much, much better.

So far I'm lovin it. But it's so hard not to boost and redline it every time and to stay below the speed limit.

Any other Evo owners here?

Awesome car man; an Evo has been my dream ride since it came to the States.

$34k vs $60k...

Easy to mod vs very, very hard to mod.

AWD vs RWD.

What makes the Special Edition special over the other Evo models? And what about the Evo X made u not want to hold out.

(As you can see i dont know much about Evo's)

They're killing off the 4G63, and I don't know how good the next gen all aluminum engines will be. These ones can handle 500hp on stock internals, and you can get 400hp for ~$1k,

As for the special edition... It's basically an MR w/o the weak 6-speed tranny. So, compared to the regular GSR, it adds:

1) Aluminum roof
2) Those sweet BBS rims
3) HIDs
4) Some cosmetic stuff

It's actually pretty spacious. Not that I'd subject any baby to the harsh ride though.

I'll get a more sensible car when the time comes.

Purchasing an Evo IX isn't such a bad move, since it will be the last Evo with a 4G63 in it. The Evo X is a big question mark with the new engine. Modding a 4G63 is stupid-simple too, since it's been around for almost two decades; and it's reliability has been proven.

Awesome enjoy! How many miles did u get it with? And most importantly, HOW MANY MILES HAVE YOU PUT ON IT?

And i hope you are following the correct breakin method, dont want your car to be a poor power producer :p

how difficult is it to take off the wing? Does it leave holes that need to be filled/painted?

I got it with 6 miles on it, and it has ~1800 right now. I broke it in properly... HARD. I think I got one that runs pretty strong from the factory.

It went up $200 per 6 months. But I also increased my limits to $250k/$500k.

Not hard. It just has 4 bolts (2 on each side). The double side tape is pretty strong, so you need a friend to lift the spoiler as you're flossing through the tape. It leaves holes, but they're not bad. Not as bad as an STi though. It has 16 rivets, and the only way to take off the spoiler is to swap it with a WRX trunk.

What did you fill the holes with?

IMO the wing is the biggest problem with the car. Did you finance and what's the current deals?

I haven't, gotta put it back on for track days.

I financed part of it. There are no specials on the Evo or STi or GTI or A3 or 335i, and the best rate that I could find was 5.99% from Capital One.
