i just bought a new 30in LG HD TV
and i was wondering
A) it has an HDMI input, what can i use that has this output? DVD? Computer?
B) and it has a DVI inout, so can i change a VGA output on the new xbox 360 to DVI or am i better off using component?

Here!

Read the very last paragraph.

HDMI is going to replace DVI, and only newer devices will have such input.
The main difference is that DVI only sends a video signal while HDMI will support both video and audio

lol you are asking about xbox 360 already ...

why don't you wait until its even close to being released before worrying about it.

and anything that has HDMI outputs can be hooked up to your HDMI inputs :D (would include some dvd players, HD boxes, cable boxes, computers, etc).

They use VGA to component adapters in the Liberal Arts labs at UT and it looks like just a straight plug conversion... What's the deal? I thought VGA and component were different.

Liberal Arts ITS used to use vga to 5 wire bnc connectors to run long lenghts of video to a projector. Where did you see a vga to 3 wire in use?

for the xbox question, I wouldn't worry about it too much. It's supposed to be for HD gaming, so there'll be some adapter for you to use. One of the great thing about the current xbox is that you can plug in whichever output module you need, and the system will automatically work with it. I can't imagine microsoft taking away that ability on the next xbox.

Many video cards today come with 2 DVI connectors and usually an DVI to VGA adaptor like this one Here

If you go to Ebay and search for VGA to DVI you will get many results for all sorts of adaptors and quite cheap!

i just want to avoid component whenever possible, i know it goes from digital to analog then back to digital which can pick up noise, and i dont want that
