And I was wondering, how much of a depreciation hit will it take? 3 of the 4 work, and the 4th one works unless you play it slighlty louder than most ppl would, where it rattles..

I'm kinda pissed, because I bought the speakers (Polk EX502a's) last summer from Crutchfield and had them installed at a local Car Toys. I was considering buy some $90 Infinity ones to replace them, but it doesn't seem worth it. I'm going to college in early Sept, and I wont have a car 1st semester, and I'll have a different car in the spring (most likely an Olds Intrigue - which would take the same size speakers as the one I have now). The problem is, its $57 to get them installed, and $57 to get them removed (put the factory ones back in) and then $57 to get them put in the Intrigue..that's too much money. I'm trying to decide what to do..my mom (whose car it is, and will sell) wont reimburse me for the speakers that are in there or pay for the uninstallation.

I wish I knew how to change the speakers myself, but evidently it involves taking 2 door panels off (which I have no clue how to do)..anybody in the Dallas area wanna do it for $20 and a free lunch? :) I'd like to get the Polk's out of the car, so I can send them in for warantty repair, and have some nice back speakers..oh well.

if you live in southern california, i would've gladly done it for a free lunch.. with the right tools, shouldn't take you more than 30 mins to do the front door panels.

You don't have to pay somebody to do that - it could take you an hour if you're a bit of a moron (like me cause it took me that long), but don't pay somebody to do that.

In regards to taking door panels off do a search on the web for your car. Maybe look at the threads at www.deja.com I knew nothing about this until a month back when I did mine. I found a guy who explained how to do my car. For instance taking the door panels off involved taking the window handle off, then unscrewing all screws around the door (no forcing needed - if you're forcing it's wrong), and then finally it just lifted right off.

it's a 1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme - I dont trust myself to take apart my car, heeh. I'd be very happy if I could get it done for $25-30 (plus it'd be cheaper if I bought the speakers online)

if you still have the stuff that came with your crutchfield order, you should have pretty detailed instructions on how to get to the speakers.
