Making money off your loved ones, typical for Americans.

You seem proud, I feel that you should feel the opposite.

What should really make you proud is - "here Dad, keep it/don't worry about it"
Hell yeah, I'm proud. What do you have against capitalism? Why do you hate America?
People borrow money from their kids?
I have quite a few customers that borrow for their grown children and people that borrow for their parents. I advise them against it but I don't not lend it.

You seem to intentionally miss the point of basically every argument in which you choose to participate simply to be difficult. It's a trend that you probably don't even realize yet.

Why not? I borrow money from my dad every once in a while and he does the same if he ever needs it. Saying no would be ridiculous and pointless. If a person can't maintain a good enough relationship with their parents to handle this, that's their problem, but it doesn't prove this concept is a problem. I also loan money to my sisters and they're happy to do the same. If they can't pay me back for a long time or ever, I don't get upset about it and I don't hold it against them. If they didn't actually need it, they wouldn't ask. It's just money.

My 5yo kids have more money in their bank account than I do. Too bad I know the account number and they don't.

Now that your kids have learned about interest. Start charging your kids taxes. It will teach them the pain of paying taxes like we all do when we grow up. For every 4 dollars take 1.

Started to make a reference to one of my nicknames but thought better of it for the same reason.

...after some haggling, it'll cost me $0.25 in interest, all due in 4 days.

:hmm:

1.25%

91 periods in the year

113% per year

So proud.

:D

Like a good Loan Shark he should have given you $18.00, kept $2.00 as interest, told you the repayment would be $20.00 and ups to $24.00 one second after the four day loan period..

You taught your kid you are broke?
Compared to him, yes. You must not have kids.

I think everybody remembers that first paycheck...
Yep but I have to send it myself every month. Adds a little salt to the wound.

And keyed my truck to drive the point home.

Who has been shooting off their mouth?

highland145 is a loan shark *ahem* short term private loan provider. so... he's training the kid well?

if your kid hands you money and says 'don't worry, keep it'....then that kid has some issues. they're gonna be walked all over. the passage of money is supposed to go down, not up.

Debt only matters if the other party can force the debtor to pay it back. :awe:
