Interesting concept, put on a headset w/ a mic and watch and listen to someone talk a time zone away while they go through a powerpoint. I'm glad we had training vouchers to use and didn't have to pay for this!

Seems like all the other people in the class ride the short bus too, I "get" the material, but the other boneheads across the country ask the presenter (can't really call her a "teacher") idiotic questions and take years to finish the labs that take me 5 minutes to knock out.

Hence, lost of posting on ATOT :)

Sounds about par for these Microsoft training sessions. I see people in these classes that claim they are highly experienced people but yet screw up the easy labs. 45 minute lab according to the book, I can finish in less than half the time.

Just knocked out the 4th lab, "Output Formatting and Process Control with Windows PowerShell"

says it is a 60 minute lab, took me maybe 7 minutes...

Powershell is an appropriate name; it's much better than the standard command line shell, Windows Suckass Shell.

The command line shell is one of the areas where linux/unix OSes have always destroyed Windows.

Powershell is pretty neat. That said, I hope I never have to learn it. :p

you're tellin' me! I was hoping I'd learn how to do some cool scripting in PowerShell to help me administer AD and SMS, but now the teacher is showing us how to make words appear in different colors...

That's my biggest complaint about this course, so far. They are teaching you the scripting language....but not teaching you how to do anything useful in it.

Right now we are finding the IP address of a remote machine (lol) using powershell. Next we will make a script to tell us what animal will represent that year on the chinese calendar...

it's more like a marketing scheme for PowerShell than a class in how to do any actual administration with it. The other dingbats in the class at least provide some comedy relief, some dingbat just asked how you change directories in PowerShell...

I rarely get much out of these training classes...but it does give me a solid base to go back to my office and learn it on my own.

the labs are useful, but the endless droning on and on about the crap that no one will use gets old VERY fast

in the end I'll probably treat powershell like I do VBScript, google for what I want to do and modify existing code to meet my specific needs
