Where should my search begin? I just need maybe 2 or 3 static IPs. My future location has not been nailed down exactly yet, but I have nailed it down to within 100 yards of a certain location. I could just price it at that location and if worse comes to worse, I can run a cat5e to where i want to be.

What should I look into, I have a budget of about 1000 a month. It is EXTREMLY mission critical. I mean, this thing can NEVER go down. What companies should I call. It is going to be in downtown Amarillo Texas. So how do I shop for a connection this good? I know t3/oc3 is probaly a little over kill, what is the middle of the road. Should I sign a contract with cox cable, and they provide it to me over coax? That is probaly not gonna be reliable enough.

final question: I need 5mbit up/down of EXTREMLY reliable internet service. Where should I start shopping. What should I be looking into. Who provides this service.

I just got done pricing some DS3s. I am thinking this is gonna be the best solution for my needs. The reliability of t1 service with much faster speed.

only problem is now... what kind of hardware must you have to take a DS3 to ethernet.

man, this is a big project for me.

All depends. I know some providers will include a cisco router for a small fee. I know of no cheap routers that will handle a DS3 though. I had one customer who didn't have the budget for any capital expenditures so ATT rolled the cost into the MRC for leasing and managing a 7200 cisco router.

I'd suggest a managed service that includes a router.

for router models...2800 "may' do a DS3. 3600/3800/7100/7200 would be fine as well.

3640 is the minimum for DS3 that I would recommend

also, max it out with memory.

if you want cheaper solution, go with NxT1, it's the same. We have 4xT1 and we're getting 6Mb/6Mb. 2650 is minimun recommendation for this kind of line.

also, how in the world did you get 5Mb ds3 for around $1000/month!!! I get quotes like $3000+/month :|

This is just a suggestion, but if you absolutely cannot have the line go down, 1 line is not going to cut it for you. I don't care if it's a DS3 line, it WILL go down at some point. If it absolutely cannot go down, make sure you get atleast 2 different carriers for reliability. And yes, how on earth did you get a 5mb DS3 for 1,000/month??

On the "can't go down" point.

The T3 is (and should) be delivered on a sonet ring

Quite frankly T3s very rarely experience problems because the are delivered on fiber and a self-healing sonte ring. But in the end something will and can go wrong.

what can happen however (and sometimes does)
Card on head end router decides to act up.
Card on sonet mux acts up

If you need superior reliability then you will implment dual DS3s with different carriers (or different access routers with a single provider)

From a physical layer perspective sonet will take care of that.
Its layer3 you have to worry about...the ability to deliever IP packets without interruption.

this kind of redundancy however comes at a price. How much do you want to spend?

I can highly recommend G4 and UNH if you are in the NH / MA / VT area. Both of these providers are very reliable and have great support if something does happen.

UNH

for 5-9 uptime(that is 99.99999%) you need to get your minimum required speeds from 2 different vendors, and have them enter the building at 2 different points (i.e. backhoe in the parking lot can only break one at a time)

yeah. Generally with sonet you have two entrances from separate directions...one easy and the other west for example.

As for a router a Cisco 2821, 2851, or a 3800 will handle that speed just fine. You will need a network module to terminate it on the router though.

Okay, This chick that has delivered my UPS mail is HOT. She is ~25 years old (that may be being nice). I just saw her for the first time yesterday, and I got another one in today. She is FINE. Very nice, and flirty. I auctually had to meet up with her yesterday because I was not there for a package, so UPS gave me her cell phone number to meet up with her.

All this being said, How do you come onto a chick when she is at work.

All I could really think of was to crack a few jokes then end with a, so, if sometime when your not working, would you like to go grab a bite to eat or something? Maybe go out to a bar(more chance of getting laid). I could always call her on her cellphone and ask if she wants to get a beer when she gets off work. I am getting a few more pkgs via UPS so I know I will see her again. She got to see me in my underwear when I answered the door today and she was smiling and starring at my crotch :p. She reminds me of the popular internet photoshoot of the UPS chick. (you know what I am talking about you nerds)

Here is a run down

Really hot UPS chick I have seen in the past 2 days
I am 20.
she may be like ~26
I do not want a relationship in anyway with a UPS girl. (unless it is sexual)
I just would like to have sex with this girl. (This is just between me and the thousands of ppl that read these forums)
This does not rule out a real relationship later down the road. Men fall in lust first, then love.
How do I come on to her while she is at work?
I can tell she kinda digs me. She does the girl 'forced laugh' that makes them sound real nerdy.

What do you guys think?

edit: the real question here, is how to hit on a chick that is older than you. If she was my age or younger this would be a cake walk. I think its gonna be pretty friggin easy. I just don't know what older womer 'want to hear'.
