So guys I am getting a 23" AOC i2369v IPS Monitor to buy locally for $1050 TTD. It will take me 10 minutes to the local PC store and I will get 1 year local warranty so if something happens I can ride to the store with my bicycle and drop in the monitor and have a replacement. If I buy online I won't be 100% certain how it will arrive if DOA or not. And this distance shipping back will cost sooooo much money it won't even be worth it because I have no money and this money what I am getting is what my dad is giving me since I am in University.

If I buy it on Amazon and ship to the Caribbean with my "skybox" I can get anything I Want but it will cost me any price in US multiply by 10.

So if a monitor is $150 US will cost me in reality $1500 TTD after shipping, vat in my country and conversion.

The thing is I have a HP 2509m a beautiful glossy display monitor 25" but like all of its kind bought in 2010 they have a short 4 year lifespan mine is starting to blank out, give buzzing noise and screen flicker etc, it does however work perfect if I keep brightness at medium and color tone at 6500K for some reason, if color tone is 9200k etc it flickers I have no idea why. I could keep this but who knows when it will give out? and this particular monitor the local store is getting don't last long in stock and you have no idea what they would get next in stock

It was a CCFL with beautiful glossy display like how laptops are. At the time they were the only one of its kind, this and a apple cinema display everything else was Matte and I sort of hate matte displays.

The AOC offcourse is Matte but who knows maybe matte displays today are sharper and cleaner than many years ago yeah? cause I never had a LED monitor anyways and maybe being IPS it might be of better quality than brand names TN panels like DELL? I did hear AOC is a cheap brand but its all they sell locally

The ultimate question is if to use this monitor as is until it gives out, amazingly at half brightness and 6500k color tone it works perfect. If you crank up the brightness to max it cuts off. And if you change the color tone to the more blueish 9300K it flickers and sometimes can even make a buzzing noise top left hand corner.

I wonder how long this thing will last at medium brightness and 6400k color hmmmm

Do you have any other option other than AOC? I don't really trust AOC to make a quality product.

Hmm there is a DELL 22" E2214H for $1250 at a different store. "they are usually more expensive than the one who sells only AOC"

Amazon is usually the best place to buy, its just you know fragile products and all to ship down here especially big products kinda afraid I get a lemon. Only thing to do is take a chance to buy on Amazon because whats the odds of something going wrong eh?

I wonder how long this HP might last me hmmmm. Longer it lasts the better my options would be.

ok I have decided I will man up and buy it on Amazon and save up the extra cash I won't go too big will stick to 22 or 23 inch

http://www.amazon.com/Dell-293M3-IPS...8Z7Q28D5A3ZPEH

Smaller the size I think less likely it will come damaged in shipping or anything like that. So will use my HP as is for now keep brightness low and in a few months time will order down the DELL. Hopefully all will go well besides the dell on Amazon has glossy glass display as opposed to nasty matte screens.

They are just like Apple Cinema Displays

FYI: no one knows what is meant by: "the Island" or "$1500 TTD".
Wild guess: is that "The Island of Doctor Moreau" & "1500 Taiwan Techno Dollars"?

I guess I'm wondering why you'd want to drive it at 9300K anyway. 6500K is the correct color temperature when the display is being lit by normal ambient light (sunlight).

I am new to AOC as well but so far it works like a champ.
AOC VS DELL:

If I watch a movie then move from my desk to my bed and I lay down to watch then the colors get distorted on the DELL and no image change on the AOC at all.
I suspect it is the anti glare on the surface of the DELL that is doing this.

Overall image quality and viewing angles heavily depends on the panel technology that your specific monitor uses. Dell and AOC both have large product lines which cover very cheap to midrange (AOC) and high-end (Dell) panels.

Case in point, if your Dell monitor uses a less expensive TN panel, then you would expect to see large color shift when viewing off angle. That's not a knock against tell though, you could have just as easily bought a TN panel from AOC.
