So I am drinking some Scotch

I poured myself some GlenLivet on the rocks, and when I take a sip I get a nice warm feeling in my stomach. I've noticed this drinking Crown also, but not when taking shots of tequila or vodka. Anyone else notice this? I'm a big Scotch/whiskey fan, so feel free to share your thoughts about it.
 
Errrm, pretty much any brown colored hard alcohol does this doesn't it? Whiskey, bourbon, scotch?
 
Bah this is 18 yr too.....and at $50 a bottle I couldn't get one of each to taste test. 😀 How is the taste of GlenFiddich better?
 
If you want a mind blowing single malt, I recommend Glenrothes. My favorite single malt, and I've had many, many different ones. 🙂

Isn't that typical of any drink with such a high alcohol content? I don't drink much Scotch, but I get similar feelings whenever drinking high alcohol wines, Ports, Brandy, etc.

I'd think so, especially liquors.
 
Nothing like a nice 21 yr old single malt scotch to warm you up... picked one up on the way back from Canada last week at the duty free shop.
 
Picked up Glenrothes last night, A+++ (Very smoooooooth, with a better flavor than Glenfiddich, but not as much as others. Very nice)

Glenlivet == A++ (Flavorful, but could be a bit smoother, good peat taste, but not overpowering)
Glenfiddich == A+ (Smooth, but not enough flavor)
 
Tequila I feel more in my throat. Like it burns.

Vodka does nothing to me when I drink it.

Scotch and whiskey does give a better smooth warm feeling though IMHO.

Whisky. Scots and Canadians leave out the "e."

Otherwise, no Scotch is truly bad....some are just astronomically better. 😀

LIAR! Try Aberlour. It's so horrible I jabbed a screwdriver in my temple to try and forget about it.

I'm quite partial to the scotches that were aged in Sherry casks, whether partially or entirely. Macallan is my absolute favorite. It's just an amazing scotch. I've had Macallan 12yr, 15yr, 18yr, 25yr, 30yr, and Gran Reserva, and I'll tell you that they're all amazing scotches. The Gran Reserva is truly their best, and it costs less than even their 25yr.

I also like Balvenie. They like to experiment with aging the whisky in different casks (port, sherry, different oaks, etc.). I prefer the sherry, obviously, but they just generally make good scotch.

My other favorite is knockando. It's the easiest scotch I've ever drank, and it's just amazingly smooth. It doesn't have the kick other scotches have, but it still has a great taste.

For the record, I think that while I can stand them, both Glenfiddich and GlenLivet are horrible. I also don't care for Glen Moray.
