So I'm crossing a major street in downtown Toronto <University Ave, at Gerrard St.> at the cross walk <I have right of way since the WALK sign is lit> and I see a silver SUV creep up at the lgihts..I didn't pay much notice..then as I approach the side where the SUV is..it creeps up even more < a meter in front of me>...going past the white line <the white line marks the cross walk..most cars are behind it>.
I'm not sure whats going on right now..I thought hte light changed..but it didn't...so I continued crossing and walked around the mammoth that is the G500. Luckily the driver didn't inch forward while I was in front of it..however as soon as I finished crossing and the light turned green, the G500 bolted forward with its V8 roaring with power and nearly scared the crap out of the old ladies that were waiting at the side of the street.
Now in most cases I wouldn't really care, but this occured right in front of the hospital <Mnt. Sinai hospital> and the area is a hosptial zone since a few other hospitals are nearby. This not a area for high speed driving/accerelating especially when there are ambulances coming out to the street every now and then as well as those special busses for the disabled.
btw, the driver of the G500 was on teh cell phone <hands free..luckily> too bad he was too engrossed in his conversation to pay attention to the road.
That said, the G500 is a beautiful and VERY capable vehicle...I just don't understand what its doing in the core of downtown with only one person driving it...oh well...hopefully the G500 goes offroad in the weekends.
